Proper etiquette on citing your source?

As I continue my attempt to increase the integrity as well as the professionalism of my posts on Steemit, I have been struggling with the proper degree and presentation of citing my sources. While I am far from being an accomplished writer or blogger, I also do not consider myself to be a newbie. If I am struggling with this, maybe there are others who also would benefit from some guidelines and advice from some of the Steemit pros. Hence this post, to ask the pros for their thoughts.
First is the issue of degree of citation. Looking through the "hot" posts, I see the whole range from no citations for pictures, quotes, etc, to a listing of citations at the bottom, to generic citations ("source: gify"), all the way to showing the link to the source after each picture, gif, or quote. What is the correct level of citation?
Secondly, what is the proper and professional way to display the source? On my posts, I have begun using the coding to display the word "source:", followed by the hyperlink to the source. When the hyperlink is very long, and extends over many lines, it can appear very messy and distracting. I have seen posts where the word "source" is shown as a hyperlink to the source, but have not been able to figure out the proper "coding" to make that happen. And I have searched Steemit through posts on formatting, but still have not been able to figure it out.
Perhaps this should be part of the beginner's "tutorial", explaining the importance of avoiding plagiarism, the degree of citation which is expected, and the proper formatting to present the citation in a professional manner. The clearer the expectations and easier it is to do, the greater adoption from the start.
Please, I welcome comments from everyone, whether you also have questions on this topic, or if you are more experienced and have advice and guidance.
[source](link)produces source (link doesn't go anywhere because I just did the same thing twice), is that what you were asking?I think linking to the source (or at least wherever you got it from) is enough for your general blog post. If you're doing a full on article then do the crazy academic citation, which can be done inline, or at the end, or both?! (I don't know I have seen a couple of articles around here and some academic papers a million years ago when I was at uni that would do a short inline citation followed up by either a more detailed footnote citation or an excessive one in a bibliography).
I do the inline one and have this bad habit of citing everything I can think of to cite -_- (real pain when it comes to identifying the music in my process videos XD)
Thanks for taking the time to read, and the good advice. I know it will help me, and I'm sure it will be helpful to others also. The more I learn on here, the more I realize how little I know!
