The Supreme Court will start the final hearing on Ayodhya Ram Janmabhoomi dispute today. During this period all the parties in this matter will be present with their preparation. The decade-old dispute was decided in 2010, and dissatisfied, all sides appealed to the Supreme Court.
Know what happened in this case since then
1528: A mosque was constructed at Ayodhya in a place which is considered to be the birth place of Hindu Lord Rama. It is believed that the Mughal emperor Babur built this mosque, which is why it was known as the Babri Masjid.
1853: The Hindus alleged that the mosque was built by breaking the temple of Lord Rama. This is the first violence between Hindus and Muslims on this issue.
1859: The British Government has created a fence of stars and allowed the Muslims and Hindus to make separate prayers in the internal and external premises of the disputed land.
1885: The matter reached the court for the first time. Mahant Raghubar Das filed an appeal for permission to build a Ram temple in Faizabad court with Babri Masjid.
December 23, 1949: Nearly 50 Hindus have reportedly placed the statue of Lord Rama at the central site of the mosque. After that, Hindus started worshiping regularly at that place. Muslims stopped studying namaz
January 16, 1950: Gopal Singh Visharad has filed an appeal in Faizabad court seeking special permission for worship of Ramlala. They demanded a judicial ban on the removal of the statue from there.
December 5, 1950: Mahant Paramahansa Ram Chandra Das filed a lawsuit to continue Hindu prayers and keep Ramamurthy in Babri Masjid. The mosque was named the 'structure'.
December 17, 1959: Nirmohi Akhara sues for transfer of disputed site.
December 18, 1961: Sunni Waqf Board of Uttar Pradesh sued the ownership of Babri Masjid.
1984: Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) launches campaign to open the Babri Masjid locks and liberate Ram Jainamasthan and build a huge temple. A committee was formed.
February 1, 1986: Faizabad District Judge allows the worship of Hindus at the disputed site. The locks were opened again. The angry Muslims formed the Babri Masjid Action Committee in protest.
June 1989: The Bharatiya Janata Party started giving formal support to the VHP and gave new life to the temple movement.
July 1, 1989: Five cases were filed in the name of Lord Ramlal Viraajan.
9th November, 1989: The government of the then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi allowed the construction of the closet near the Babri Masjid.
September 25, 1990: The then BJP President LK Advani took the Rath Yatra from Somnath in Gujarat to Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh, after which communal riots took place.
November 1990: Advani was arrested in Samastipur, Bihar. BJP then vowed to the Prime Minister VP Singh withdrew support from the government. Singh formed the government with the support of the Left and the BJP. Later he resigned.
October 1991: In Uttar Pradesh, the Kalyan Singh government took over 2.77 acres of land near Babri Masjid.
December 6, 1992: Thousands of car service reached Ayodhya, demolished Babri Masjid, after which communal riots took place. A temporary Ram temple was built in haste. Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao promised to rebuild the mosque.
December 16, 1992: To investigate the responsible situations of the mosque's disruption, the M.S. The Liberhan Commission was formed.
January 2002: Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee started an Ayodhya division in his office, whose job was to negotiate with Hindus and Muslims to resolve the dispute.
April 2002: The Bench of three High Court judges started hearing on the ownership of Ayodhya disputed site.
March-August 2003: Archaeological Survey of India excavated in Ayodhya on the directions of the Allahabad High Court. Archaeological Survey of India claimed that there was evidence of the temple remains below the mosque. There were different opinions about it in the Muslims.
September 2003: A court decides that seven Hindu leaders inciting the demolition of the mosque should be called for hearing.
October 2004: Advani reiterates BJP's commitment to construct a temple in Ayodhya.
July 2005: Suspected Islamic militants attack a disputed site using a jeep full of explosives. Security forces killed five militants
July 2009: Liberhan Commission submits its report to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh after 17 years of formation
September 28, 2010: Supreme Court passes the verdict by rejecting the Allahabad High Court's decision not to give a decision in the disputed matter.
September 30, 2010: Allahabad High Court Lucknow bench declares historic verdict
21 March 2017: Supreme Court gives mediation on Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute. Chief Justice JS Shehhar has said that if both parties agree then they are ready to mediate outside the court.
March 23, 2017: Supreme Court's Justice PC Ghosh and Rohinton Nariman were posted for hearing on a plea for the removal of criminal charges against BJP leader LK Advani and the other leaders.
April 6, 2017: The Supreme Court said that he could transfer the cases lodged against BJP leaders in Rae Bareli, using his power under Article 142, to transfer Lucknow.
April 19, 2017: Supreme Court revokes conspiracy charges against Advani and 25 others.
May 30, 2017: charges of criminal conspiracy of the assassination of Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi, Uma Bharti, Vinay Katiyar
August 8, 2017: UP Shi'a Central Waqf Board told the Supreme Court that they will make a mosque in a Muslim-dominated area.
August 11, 2017: The Supreme Court has fixed December 13 on 13 appeals in the Ram Janmabhoomi case.
December 5, 2017: The Supreme Court has given a final hearing on February 8 while hearing the petitions.
