How Education Process In Development Of Democracy
To build a democracy within the community structure democracy education is needed which will contribute to the development of democracy. Thus, educational democracy is more about politics because of government policy provisions in the field of education at the national level.
Democracy is a form of government in which all citizens have equal rights in decision-making that can change their lives. Democracy allows citizens to participate either directly or through representation in the formulation, development and law-making. Democracy includes social, economic, and cultural conditions that allow freedom and equal freedom of political practice. [1]
Democratic education is not just limited to the system running within the educational institutions themselves. The process of equity education as part of the democratic commitment. Education can be one of the strategic efforts of the democratization of the Indonesian nation, especially among the younger generation. Education is a model of education that is oriented to the development of the nation's character through the lessons that make learners as the subject of learning through democratic, participatory, critical, and self-actualizing ways of learning.

Education that is democratic, must have the aim of producing graduates who are able in the life of the community and able to advance the decision of public decision. In other words, education must be able to instil awareness and equip knowledge of the role of citizens in a democratic society. Besides democratic education is also adapted to the community of critical thinking and democratic action, through the activities created in a new generation of knowledge and awareness of three things.

The process of democracy we are experiencing today is chaotic when some components of the nation understand democracy through anarchist behaviour that is shown in real lately. The behaviour of political figures who should give the role of democracy is the same as doing political acrobats that sometimes make us sad. This fact has caused the democratic situation to be sagging and drowning in this unfavourable situation. The country is like no human-made. Perhaps this has not been understood and practised in real terms, only limited implementation. Democracy forever requires a democratic community in order to run a theory.
One thing to be concerned about, education is often placed as something that is only rigid with the transfer of knowledge and the area of induction, more than that. Besides as a transfer of knowledge, education is also a media and activities to build awareness, maturity, and independence of learners. Awareness, maturity and independence are the goals of education. On the other hand, through education also the process of creating a mentality and democratic culture of a society can be done.
The formation of a democratic mentality is an absolute matter, in order for our democracy to flourish and to create equitable justice and prosperity. [3]
Education, both organizational institutions and for a small proportion of people, then becomes mechanistic because it merely falls in the interests of "money" alone. Money is everything. The role of education that can be expected to create a culture of democracy in society through the internalization of value in schools. Every country has a state philosophy as a manifestation in the life of its people, including in it is the life of education. Diversity education appreciates and exaggerates the differences between a person's related, cultural, social, economic and even differences in ability.
So, can be seen in the role of education in schools to grow and build value in the life of nation and state. In addition to the three reforms above, to foster the values of democracy that for so long shackled by various problems that exist, also needed things as follows:
- Socialization of the things done both informal and nonformal education for the whole society. Socialization of-such matters may occur within the school, family and community environment through the role of the parties concerned; teachers, parents, friends/colleagues and also the mass media. Thus, moral values will be helped in the minds of the nation's children.
- Improving the quality of teachers has an important role in the process of socializing the values of democracy, especially in basic education. The student always shows the value he or she believes in and even his or her behaviour is in accordance with what the teacher is saying. Teachers are the source of democratic values and attitudes. There is an influence of teachers in the socialization of values in the school level is determined by the teacher's own credibility. If the student is a figure who can be trusted, able and can be used as a model for the students then very teachers.
- The improvement of the curriculum is very deep understanding of knowledge about democracy. The curriculum should be flexible and elastic, so there is an opportunity to provide important and necessary learning materials for students.
