This will affect the first impression
Standard interview takes an average of half an hour. But you only have three seconds to make a good impression.
Our brain is so arranged that most of the information we perceive visually. It is on visual stimuli that we base our judgments. A good suit, a neat haircut and polished shoes give the impression that we are a responsible, important person. Sloppy look and stooping pose - that the person is lazy, insignificant.
Appearance creates an opinion about you, which you then have to confirm or deny. If you look professional, the interlocutor will think: "It seems that everything is under control, let's see if this is really so." And if you are not dressed neatly, then, probably, he will decide: "He does not make a special impression, but, perhaps, you can give him a chance." You will save yourself a lot of effort if you immediately make a positive impression.
It is much easier to strengthen the existing opinion than to force someone completely to change it.
