Let's Harvest Sunflower Seeds For Food & For Planting
Our Little Homestead Helper and I harvested the seeds from the sunflowers she helped me plant earlier in the spring. We plan on baking some of them (she wants them to be ranch flavored) and saving the rest to plant next spring.
This was our first time harvesting sunflower seeds from seed heads, so we don't exactly know what we're doing. It took us a minute to find the best methods. Also, some of the heads developed a bit of mold, and we found some pest damage. But, we were able to keep enough seeds to give baking them a practice attempt, and we have PLENTY to save for next year's garden!
Best of all, Our Little Homestead Helper had a great time, and we made some awesome memories.
