So far so good. A couple of gaps. I wonder if I should put in new seed in those gaps and if they will 'catch up'.
I will update you all as they progress and can't wait to show you the harvest!
Type of Carrot Seed: ATOMIC RED
65 days to harvest. . . .
Very interesting. I never thought of growing carrots in this way!
This is my first try. I was inspired by someone who got great results planting carrots this way.
That is great, I am not the only crazy gardener trying this container gardening this year. Mine have just popped up. I will take a pic and attach it when I go out to water, tomorrow, as it rained all day today.
Can't wait to see your pictures! And we are both Canadians! Happy 150th!
I live in the Ottawa Valley we have had a later cold spell so I still have to put my tomato's cucumbers and green beans out. Happy 150 also, lots of activities planned around the country, enjoy
is it ok to grow them that close ?
Hiya! On average, I spaced them about an inch and a half to two inches apart. Maybe it doesn't look like it in the photo. 50% sand - 50% compost. Stay tuned. . . we shall see at harvest. :)
I have not tried this but, did grow a short variety in my garden by using sand in the spot where I grew them (soil here is clay) which I have composted over the years. I am using raised beds now and hope to put in a short row of Danver Half long carrots. Think you might just be onto something with the bucket. Best of luck.
