How To Learn a New Language Fast
Language is a powerful tool. It can give you a lot of advantages, it will make you get to know more people or even get you out of trouble. When you're traveling it can come in handy.
In Australia I've met people from all over the world and it's always fun to impress them with a couple of words in their native tongue. I speak Norwegian and English, as well as some German and sign language. I would love to be able to speak Spanish and Arabic in the future.
Here are some tips on how to quickly learn a language of your choice:
Think about your motivation to learn this language and focus on that. If you're not really motivated it will be hard. What are the benefits of learning this new skill? Write it down.
Watch TV shows or listen to someone that speaks that language. This way you can hear how words are pronounced and what the language sounds like.
Start with simple stuff like numbers, colors and animal names. Then move on to greetings and introductions. Find a subject you're interested in and learn some words on the subject. I always learn the words for different kinds of food. Ha ha!
Find a language buddy. Find out if you know someone that speaks the language you're learning, or connect online with someone from that country that is willing to be your language mentor.
Listen to songs in that language. I found this very helpful in trying to learn a couple of Spanish words. It's also a lot of fun. If you are a beginner at the language, try listening to songs that are ment for kids.
Have fun. Making the learning in to a competition or a game is smart. Learning is supposed to be exciting and fun.
If possible, visit a country that speaks the language after a while. This will help you in practicing it. Maybe there is a community of people in your area that speaks it? Visit them.
Devote time to learning the language. You can spend one hour every Sunday to learn new words. Or decide to learn two new words every day. In one year, you've learned 730 words. That's enough to carry a simple conversation with someone.
Don't worry about the grammar in the beginning. It's more important to build a vocabulary.
Remember, practice makes perfect. Good luck!

Ive been living in Egypt now for over a year and Arabic/Egyptian not so easy - all that throat action is difficult to do to get the right sound. Can speak a little to get by, but would love to be more fluent...practice practice
