Concurso: Robo, Hurto o Extravío?

I want to tell you a story of a theft that happened with me about 25 years ago. What happened was that I built a house where not many houses were built yet and very few people lived in this colony.

The work of wooden doors and windows was still going on at my house. That day the carpenter was on leave, I had gone to my office, the children had gone to school, my wife thought that some household work should be done, then she went to the market to buy some things.

It was daytime, she thought she would return early, so she just locked one or two places for the security of the house. Then when she returned home after about 2 hours, she saw that all the doors were cut.

A lot of things were stolen from the house, some of these things were very valuable.

For example, my camera worth about $4000 in those days, some gold and silver jewellery worth about $1000, VCR worth $300, and cash worth about $4000 were stolen.

The thieves cut all our doors with a saw, tore the iron shelves with some weapon. They did a lot of damage. They also took away a briefcase full of my and my wife's new warm clothes.

In those days, there was a loss of about $11000 and about Rs 100000 in our currency, and this amount was very valuable then. In today's price, it would be Rs 10 lakh.

After this, first of all, I got strong steel doors installed for the security of the house, got the boundary wall raised, got CCTV cameras fitted, did not leave any unauthorized entry into the house. And also, I never left the house alone until the place was inhabited. I kept all the valuables in the locker.

That is why my advice to everyone is that we should always keep our valuables like gold and silver jewellery, cash etc. in a bank locker.

The house should have CCTV cameras and alarm system inside and outside.

If the house is in a secluded place, then one should keep a dog in the house, and always close the doors and windows tightly before leaving.

If one has to go out for a long time, then one should leave the responsibility of security of the house to a professional security guard.

By doing this, our hard-earned property and money can be saved from theft.
