Tools, Tips and Tricks to style your steem post

in #blog8 years ago (edited)

After 2 weeks of steem-ing, I started to share it to my close friends about this platform. I managed to encourage some of them to start blogging. However, some of their post has low engagement and seems dull at first glance.

So, here are some quick tips and tricks that share to new comers to start write a better quality and styling of blog post.

Markdown to style your post

The first skill that I think is essential for a blogger is markdown. Markdown is a markup language which are designed to be converted to HTML with ease.

Check out some of the resources about structuring steem post:

Always write with draft

When writting directly on steemit, I often came accross some mistakes that I had made that I need to edit it after I post.

The solution is to use any markdown editor on desktop. For me, I am using MacDown, which is a markdown editor on Mac.

With MarkDown editor like MacDown, I can easily edit and visualize the result side by side instead of top and bottom structure provided by steemit.

Make use of images

On steemit, steemit will choose the first image of the blog post as the cover photo. So, always choose a good cover photo to have a better post images cover.

As the old idioms say, "Pictures worth a thousand words", an image will further enhance the reader experience with your post.

You are the artist and architect of your post

As the artist and architect of the post, you are responsible to design your blog post structure and standardise the structure of your post. These approaches will enhance the reader experience and reduce confusion due to messy structure.

Here is an example of Bad Structure and Good Structure of a blog post.

A bad structure are just like reading books. They separated each point with a paragraph style.A good structure should have an introduction and conclusion. In my post, my introduction is followed by sub topics with images, and then a short conclusion.

There goes my 4 tips and tricks to do with your blog post, but I did not cover on how you can write a better blog post. In the next post, I will share more about "How to start writing a good blog post?"
