Making Open Dota into Progressive Web App

Open Dota is an open source Dota 2 data platform for dota player to track and see their performance in games. I had been a user for it for a while.

My suggestion on making the website into progressive web app had made it into backlog milestone of Open Dota. In addition to that, I made contribution to complete 2/5 of the task of that.

Progressive Web App enable this website to have more meta tags, enabled service worker and on mobile it will automatically prompt add to homescreen.

My suggestion for making the website progressive web app is that:-

  • [x] Mobile Icon on iOS and Android (Add to Home Screen)

  • [x] enable service worker (it was disabled)

  • [ ] push notification

  • [ ] Caching for faster load of the app (require eject of webpack)

  • [ ] Faster load speed and App Shell
