Why Do Geese Birds Fly In "V"

I found a family of beautiful Geese birds flying together early in the morning and sometimes at Sunset in "V' form. I wish a have my camera ready to take some photographs.

It was a beautiful harmony as they flew together in a perfect synchronized flight.

I wonder if the Geese will be migrating together as a family from the cold weather to a more warmer place or if they stay around here?

How beautiful it is how these Geese protect each other and flew together as a family and friends dancing in the air, like a lovely ballet together in a perfect rhythm and harmony.

Then in the afternoon two days later when I went back to the hotel I looked out the window and I saw a couple of Geese in a small lake behind the hotel where I was staying.

What a surprise!

I was a happy moment to know that I could visit them soon when I have a free time!

Well, I visited the geese as you can see in these photographs!

As you can see, the goose offered me a piece of grass in his beak, it was like it was thankful that I was visiting them. I offered them some pieces of fresh bread and they loved it!

Why, finally, why do the geese fly in a "V"?

The "V" shape formation conserves their energy as each bird flies slightly above the one in front. Another benefit of using the "V" formation is that is easy to keep track of every bird in the group. As each bird gets tired, they rotate to the back, this way they can all fly for very long ranges and the birds in the back get to rest a bit, while the bird in the front has the most wind resistance, but they take turns, so each bird benefits the entire group!

Flying in formation assists the birds with a better power to flight ratio, as much as 71% wind resistance reduction! If each goose flies alone, they don't have the same results and power, as a result of the much greater wind resistance as compared to flying in a "V" with other geese!

Geese have discovered that they can reach their destination more quickly, and with less energy together in "V" formation.
