Logic is the investigation and analysis of formulating reasonable and valid arguments. Arguments are made of a number of sentences that serve as the foundation, or information that is incurred as factual, and a sentence that proclaims a conclusion. For Example:

Aristotle is a human.
If Aristotle is a human, then Aristotle is mortal.
Therefore, Aristotle is mortal.

This exemplifies a valid argument. An argument that is considered to be valid, is one where the truth of the conclusion goes after the truth of its setting. Yet, the validity of this argument doesn’t rely on anything about Aristotle, manhood, or mortality. It is considered to be valid because of its arranged schema, or construction, is developed and valid. Next, is a schematic representation of a similar argument.

It doesn’t matter which sentences stand in for x or y, therefore it’s considered to be an argument which is valid. That top argument is considered to be just like second argument only equipped with fragmented sentences that take place instead of x and y. Terms such as “any,” “and,” “some,” and “or” are known as logical terms. The study of logic investigates which schemas for arguments are considered to be factually valid. This looks at the relationship that exists between different logical terms like “if-then” and “and” and the parts they are a part of in creating arguments that are considered to be valid.

Extra Information

1. Logic became the first subject to study in philosophy after Aristotle created the system.
2. In Begriffschrif, Gottlob Frege invented what we consider to be modern logic. Frege revolutionized logic, but is hardly known outside of philosophy.
3. The idea that every truth is either false or true is undeniably denied by most philosophers. Some go as far as to deny that all contradictions are invalid or false.
