The "Chini Masjid" of Syedpur is a landmark of the city's historical architecture. This mosque is known by many as the Chinese mosque. The distance from the mosque located in Syedpur to Nilphamari Sadar is 20 km. The construction of this historic mosque has a long background and history. The first mosque was built in 1863 by Haji Bakr Ali and Haji Muku, two pious local men in the Isbagh neighborhood of Syedpur city.
Constructed using gram and bamboo. It was later converted into a tin house with the help of locals. Later local residents took the initiative to launch funds for the construction of the mosque. For this reason, people contribute a percentage of their monthly salary to a fund for mosque building. Then, the construction of the mosque started.Folklore has it that a Hindu mason named Shanku started building the mosque from scratch for ten annas per day.Local people volunteered to help him.
This process is referred to as "sugaring" or "working the sugar granules".Hence, the mosque is also known as Chinese Mosque or Chinese Mosque. The porcelain used in the beautification process was transported from Calcutta.
This historic mosque was built by Md.Mokhtul and Nabi Bux.The distinctive craftsmanship of the mosque will surely leave a lasting impression. Vases, bouquets, rose flowers, flower arrangements in circles, moon stars, and other decorations can be seen on the walls of the mosque.
The construction of this mosque involved the use of numerous marble stones. Many tourists from domestic and other countries visit Chini Masjid because of its beauty. One cannot fully understand the splendor of the Chini Masjid without seeing it for oneself. The mosque has 27 minarets. An ancient Christian cemetery is located behind this mosque.
243 Shankar built the marble stone mosque. There are three large domes and 32 smaller minarets. The mosque can seat around 500 people for prayers.
This mosque has two entrances, one on either side. Different colored stones and glitter covered the entire exterior of the mosque. In addition, white mosaic tiles decorate the balcony.
