CEO Blockstream, Adam Back - penemu sistem hashcash proof-of-work (PoW) yang kemudian digunakan dalam algoritme penambangan bitcoin (BTC) - mengatakan bahwa "waktu bitcoin" tampaknya berjalan lebih cepat daripada "waktu internet" yang disebut sebagai "waktu internet" dari era dotcom awal.

Kembali membuat pernyataannya selama panel di konferensi Bitcoin 2019 di San Francisco pada 26 Juni.

Menyusul diskusi tentang awal hashcash serta berbagai penemuan uang elektronik awal seperti digicash, Back mencatat bahwa bitcoin telah menembus dengan visi desentralisasi Satoshi dan solusi untuk melawan hiperinflasi dengan memperbaiki kurva pasokan koin.
