Fake Plastic Trees

Isn't it odd that we live our lives faking our lives?

How many times a day to you do things you wouldn't do on your own. How many of the times to you simply do things that society requires of you. We have become conditioned to live life in a certain way. In the end we feel fulfillment from how many boxes we can tick out: wen't to school, wen't to college, wen't to work, married, kids, cars, house, retirement etc.

And what about all the times we pretend to be something we aren't. We always try to sell ourselves to be better than we really are. Take all the celebrities. They seems so successful and spotless role-models, yet many of them lead a miserable life. It's like Jim Carrey said: “I think everybody should get rich and famous and do everything they ever dreamed of so they can see that it’s not the answer.”

It seems to me most of our lives is a lie. Our food is a lie - we eat food that's filled up with preservatives and food colors. And we don't question what we eat. Just how many times do we go in the shop thinking "wonder if this is actually healthy for me or is just a marketing slogan slapped everywhere." I for one am tired of eating fake food, but it's everywhere I look. Seriously, If you think about it, about 90% of the food in stores is not that good for you yet it's what we eat every day.

What about the lives we lead. What are our goals? Is monetary gain and past-time entertainment worth living? For me it's not, really. We only have one life and if we spend it on things we don't even like, what's the point? Depression is not at it's alltimehigh for no reason. People are disconnected from their lives as the system doesn't offer us anything meaningful in return. Is doing things you don't enjoy only to keep existing so you can keep doing them a good life? I don't think so.

How do we behave around others? Aren't we all obsessed about our image? We like to show that we are confident, well groomed, lead a successful life. Why can't we just dress how we like without thinking about what others would think about us or act in that manner. Most people are socially shy because they fear of embarrassment. Wouldn't it be nice if we didn't fear that? Why do we put up such a show?

I don't know what the answer to these questions is, but I'm trying to find some for myself as my life keeps going down an undesireable path which, wears me out.

By for now.

All goin questions . No simple answers. We are herd animals at heart so we like to fit in. Like anything life is a balance .

I think, that often it is not a pretense, but everyday life. A person can not do only what he wants, it is the law of society. But he sure does have a choice, what food to eat to be healthy, to marry someone to be happy, to have children to be happy to educate them

If we have a choice then why are everyone so depressed, why do people have mid-age crisis? It's because they know they aren't doing anything that matters to them, but what society has conditioned them to do: get a well paying job, make children and that's about it. Education doesn't care about our individual desires and passions. We are not thought how to live a meaningful life. Everyone just follows the money, not how to make our lives better, how to help and enjoy life to the fullest.
