Di Indonesia ukuran bunga kamboja ini cukup pendek yakni 1-2 meter saja. Di habitat aslinya tumbuhan ini tumbuh menyemak, ukuran pohonnya bisa sampai 10-12 meter.

Warna bunga cenderung berwarna merah di tepi petal dan putih di tengah, dari spesies ini ditemukan beberapa varian.
