Mystery of the Green River in Edinburgh, Scotland

Concerns rose recently when a river in the Scottish capital turned into a confusing green color that left some locals who saw it scratching their heads.

The strange color changes were investigated by the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) after a report describing bright green water as 'something out of a science-fiction movie'.

It looks very strange, "said one witness, Antonia Hynd, as reported by bbc.com (20/02/18), who has walked through the local park with his four-year-old daughter when their attention is focused on the phenomenon.

"I see people lifting their dogs out of the river and others wondering what's wrong with the river."

"People were shocked, so I immediately called SEPA." said Hynd.

Analysis of green river water then revealed that the color change was caused by the type of dye used to track drainage expenditure. The chemicals used are said to be non-toxic.

"I do not know about dye testing before today and for 100 percent really environmentally friendly then it does not matter because it does not look that way," Hynd said.

Hopefully it is not poisonous.
