Why do we lose weight with difficulty over the years?
It happens to us all - as the age grows, the pounds increase. No matter how weak you are or in what shape you are, everyone suffers from physiological changes that build up stomach fat or relax the skin of your hands.
There are a number of reasons why this happens - from hormonal disturbances to muscle loss, the Daily Mail writes. This means that a quick morning run will not help a 50-year-old man burn the calories from the burgers he eats at noon.
But American researcher Dr. Niraja Padlija says that perhaps it is easier to deal with filling than we think. He recommends instead of counting calories simply by adjusting our approach to fitness and diet.
How Weight Changes - Hormones
Men:
Testosterone is the secret of men who have a naturally weak figure. The hormone likes to stick to fat, which means less fat in the abdomen. It also helps build muscle, boosts metabolism and maintains insulin sensitivity (which prevents diabetes).
Lower levels of testosterone make it easier for the body to store fat. In addition, obesity also reduces testosterone production. This is the question of what is the hen or egg first.
With age, testosterone levels in the male organism naturally decrease by about 1% per year after 30 years of age. This is also the period in which fat accumulates in the abdomen.
Women:
The female body has a delicate balance of the hormones progesterone and estrogen. Higher levels of estrogen contribute to the formation of adipose tissue. In younger women, this is offset by strong levels of progesterone. From the age of 35, the levels of the two hormones decrease, which leads to menopause.
However, progesterone levels decrease faster and this leads to the fat formation, which seems to us to be a more difficult to control process than when we were younger.
Loss of muscle mass
Losing muscle mass is one of the major factors that lead to a slower metabolism. Muscle tissue is the largest consumer of whole-body glucose.
If you can not keep your pure muscle mass as you age, the glucose consumer decreases. This glucose, in turn, can be converted into fat. As a result, your body does not process carbohydrates as fast as before.
How to deal with this?
Train
Many people who exercise regularly when they get older have a habit of betting mostly on cardio exercises like walking. But it is very important when people get older to focus on more powerful workouts. This is more important when you are older than when you are 25 years old.
While aerobic workouts are good for the heart, muscle building exercises are just as useful because they prevent the development of inflammation and diabetes.
Eat more protein
Protein shakes are not accidentally available in fitness halls for those who want to strengthen their muscles. According to Dr. Padilla, protein is essential for older people who want to build muscles and keep their metabolism stable.

You are right, proteins are better than carbohydrates to be in a better shape. I usually go to the gym and it depends on what kind of exercise i do, it will strengthen my muscles or my heart (running for example). Good post! @postsfriend
