The Society’s Hunger for Respect and Humanity

Disappointment is natural, as a human being we really got to go through it, feel it, learn from it and let it go. This happens when we give 100% TRUST and when we expect too much until we knew that one day we will be left behind and alone because they just don’t like to be with us and they do not need anything from us anymore. Sometimes people are just not happy
about other’s success stories and tend to misinterpret it and make stories out of it. I don’t know if its just with the Filipino culture, no idea if its the same on other parts of the world, but I’m sure disappointment is everywhere because as a person we expect goodness when we do good. Maybe people have different personalities and it just won’t click in an instant. It’s easier for people to judge and talk about someone rather than to talk and make sense out of the situation.

I have a primary school classmate whom I haven’t talked to for years who sends me messages once in a while, just to vent. She’s smart, was an honor student, a graduate of the biggest university in the country but as she entered the corporate world, she felt alone, she felt like everyone around her are talking behind her back and making gossips about her. I responded with, “try to get in their circle, show them that no matter how harsh they are to you, you still are a good person and worth to be treated as a friend or might as well give you RESPECT as a co-employee”. Then I realized I have given an advice which I know is just not easy to do.

It’s hard to move in an environment when everyone seems to be judging you, that is when we start to feel inferiority and we tend to hide our capabilities and keep our mouth shut because we start to feel like we are being criticized without us knowing, it will just be a slap in the face when people around murmurs about your work and are coward enough to tell it straight to you. This is when self-esteem becomes affected, when a person becomes demoralized, when a person loses motivation.

It’s not about being sensitive nor paranoid, its normal to have a varying reaction to the environment because every one is different, it just so happened that some are too soft and some people just don’t care. Allow every feelings because we are human but never forget that RESPECT should be the bottomline of every situation.

She messaged me again after a week or two, she said she still feels bad about the intrigues her colleagues are throwing at her, that she’s already thinking of quitting her job as she feels that she doesn’t deserve the treatment that she is getting from random people who also have not proven anything big in life. I somehow felt irritated thinking as if she is not mature enough to handle this kind of pressure and environment. Then I felt guilty since I am not in her situation so I should never question her emotions.

She wouldn’t reach out to me in the first place if she can still manage things on her own thinking that we haven’t talked for like fifteen to twenty years... Maybe she really needed someone to talk to, a support person whom she can trust and I am grateful for the trust she is giving me. No judgement, no one should be treated this way no matter what a person’s social status is, no matter what degree or title a person has, no matter what this or that person have already proven in life. We are all different and we are blessed with different talents and capabilities, no one owns the world. No one has control over someone else’s life.

We may never be aware of what others are going through in life so at least be kind. Be gentle because NO ONE has the authority to control how an individual must move, must decide and must act. We are individuals thus we are unique.

Humanity begins with RESPECT, HUMILITY and GRATEFULNESS. Spread love and make your environment a better place, be gentle and be kind because it wont harm to make somebody’s day a better one.

Grateful that I’m able to come up with this #gratefulvibes post, that I came to realize I have a pure and humble heart to talk about this which for me is a very important matter as an individual who have to deal with different kinds of people from day to day.

Much love from this sugarmama ❤️❤️❤️
