Two top members of Paul Ryan’s leadership team, Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy and Majority Whip Steve Scalise, have begun angling for his job in the event the speaker calls it quits after the election.
They’re closely monitoring the moves of the other and quietly courting Republicans who could help them clinch the top post, according to 20 GOP lawmakers and aides interviewed for this story.

Why would Paul Ryan retire, is he tired of winning already...? He is just another ship jumper who can see the Republican party self destructing so he will most likely quit like the other Republicans who have already resigned or announced their resignations. The Republican party has definitely proven they are unable to govern, all they know how to do is criticize the Democrats when they are in power but now that they have taken full control of the government things have gotten much worse. The American people are finally opening their eyes to the corruption and hypocrisy. Paul Ryan does not want to go down with the burning ship, he wants to run and flee before the fire starts... I guess we will see if he runs away like the Republicans before him. He is just like the rest of the corrupt politicians, he does not care about the American people all he cares about is himself and the bribes he has collected while in office...
