New to Steem

Well, Im new to Steem, but Im eager to learn how this works. I see a lot of foreign content- Im from the USA- but Id love to understand how this works and help it grow.

I think we have let social media get out of control, and let it sit with Big Tech too long. I love the idea of a platform that lets us control our own destiny! If you have been on Steem for a few years, and can explain how this works or point me to a post that does, Id be very grateful.
