New update of the Utopian.bot

I pushed a new update to the Utopian bot last night, so if you want to make the best out of your contributions, read on!

I will also review the steps that leads to your upvote. The Utopian Bot is opensource, it means that you can know how it works, if after that you still have a low upvote, don't complain but rather work on improving the quality (quality as for the bot standard, that's what we're trying to improve).

As for now, here is how it works.

Step 1 : Waking up

Every hour the bot wakes up and checks its energy. If it's full (100% VP), it will start listing all the posts it didn't upvoted yet and are more than 4 hours old (and less than 6 days, just in case).

Step 2: Prelimiary estimation of quality

As said earlier, the estimation of quality is not perfect but basically here is what you need to know:

• Your post need to be informative
• Your post should have had some visibility and get some nice payout and votes
• You are rewarded for posting often
• Some categories are more difficult than others and we take that into account
• Don't use bots! You will get punished. The list will be soon updated to separate the pay for vote bots to the trailing bots because in some case, users are punished for other people's actions. We're working on it, be patient =)

Step 3 : Real calculation of the vote

We use the quality calculated in step 2 to do two things

• We separate low quality content from high quality content with a threshold. If you read my advice above, you should be in the high quality content hopefully!

• High quality contributions are divided by a ratio that depends on the number of contributions for each category. If too many people write translation, it will drain its reward pool and reduce the payouts for this category. That's a way to regulate the stream in all the categories. Of course, each category as a different reward pool that you can find in the code.

• Low quality posts share what is left, based on their initial estimation of quality

New steps

Some people got upvoted really low, because they didn't follow any of the guidelines above, but still, it was too low. We don't want you to be sad, so I've pushed a safeguard that installs a minimum for each category of contribution.

The smallest one is for the ideas and blogs and is set to 1%, wheter for development you can never get less than 6% (Anyways, unless massive bot abuse or no visibility at all, no development or other fancy category should ever be in the low quality posts).

Also, a maximum of 60% vote has been implemented, regardless of the category and the bot list has been updated.

Future work

As said above, I will try to tackle the bots' problem as fast as I can.
