10 years away for the dog!
British couple went to India for just 10 days traveling to Kerala, but they did not return, and behind them a group of dogs spent three lakh pounds of their own.
The couple had retired from the job earlier than scheduled time. Then they were about to roam around the world.
After Gran Canaria, they started a holiday for two weeks in India. Marie and Steve Masscraft decided that they would go to Kovalam town in the southern Indian state of Kerala.
They went, but did not return from there. They saw two dogs. Their maya towards the animal became so intense that the couple started looking after the two dogs.
Then cut it 10 years. Now they have 100 dogs. They also manage a clinic for animals. In order to supervise the untoward dogs, they have set up an organization whose job is to bring sick dogs out of the street, feed them, vaccinate etc.
Before Steve retired, Bradford ran a business in the city. He said, we did not have much financial satisfaction. There was not much difficulty again. So we decided to retire at an early age. We did not have any plan except to travel in Europe.
But the first goal of this couple was to see how life is like without a job.
He said, we had just been here for two weeks to visit. But I fell in love with two dogs. Then everything changed. There are six dogs from two dogs. Then there are 12. Thus began to grow.
After some days, the couple started to find out the unreasonable dogs of Kovalam City. They started to turn around feeding them. At one point, the number of dogs increased so much that they had to hire a large rickshaw to take food.
For this, a rickshaw driver was also hired permanently. His name is Kumbu. Now he is the manager of the dog clinic.
Everyone in the city knew about this couple. They used to bring dogs out of the road, people started leaving the dog in front of the couple's door.
Steve said, once he got six dogs in a plastic bag.
In this way the life of this couple changed. Day by night, their work was done to bring the sick dog home from the street, feeding and treating.
The couple said, there is no problem with dogs in the Kuvalum disease. But then they were vaccinated at the beginning.
The couple said that they spent three lakh pounds of their own savings on these dogs in Kerala. They organized occasional programs to collect money. Many families, friends and tourists also helped with their money
