All That Excites Me

What a wonderful world we live in. How lucky are we, to be alive at this time. Though, if you are reading this from the future you may look back and think differently. I must also write for my future readers. Our quality of life is the highest it has ever been, we have every opportunity to go from zero to hero. As long as you have an internet connection, anything is possible. So in this post I will elaborate on all of the current ventures that are exciting me.

Blockchain Technology - Even if it doesn't replace our current broken monetary systems (FIAT currency), it definitely will completely overhaul most industries as we know them. Smart contracts replace the need for a central authority to input information based on events. Without that need of a central authority, businesses will be turned inside out. The customers will become the power holder. It will be the fact that we can choose to take part or not. And those who choose to take part first (the early adopters) will be the ones who have the most power. Anything that gets too powerful or too centralized will simply be abandoned and the value will be lost. How good is it?

Globalisation of the Internet - As I mentioned in my last post, more people are joining this network of connected minds. As this expansion happens, more people have access to knowledge, knowledge is power and blah blah blah.. Basically we are going to evolve all aspects of the human experience at an increasingly exponential rate. Hold on tight.

Trust Organizations - More and more apps are offering a viable solution to existing models. I feel like I don't need to give examples but just in case, Airbnb, Uber, Deliveroo. These are all based on the two assumptions; 1, that people will do good and 2, that people will trust each other. This has taken a massive shift in the Us vs Them mentality that the mainstream media is desperately trying to keep us imprisoned in. It has started to take hold in our societies around the world. Strangers let strangers stay in their homes, ride in their cars and deliver their food. It is amazing to see and I wholeheartedly hope that we continue on this trend until everybody trusts everyone.

Health Awareness - My job sends me to deliver natural and organic brands to cafes, supermarkets and generally bloody nice people all over the greater Brisbane region. So I get to see first hand the rapid rise of health food stores, organic preference over GMOs and in general a transition from I EAT EVERYTHING to plant based diets. Of course we aren't there yet. But as time goes on, I only hear of more and more people adopting this lifestyle for health, conscience or many other reasons. It's exciting times. Again, it is the internet we have to thank for this. Pulling back the veil from which the big industry giants used to hide behind. Now we get the see how poorly animals are treated in captivity, how corrupt politicians are in our governments and how terrible for the environment other major consumer driven industries are. We are learning a lot and changing the course of the world based on how we spend our money. We are in control!

Universal Basic Income (UBI) - This is possibly one of the most exciting things that is in discussion at the moment. If you haven't heard of it yet, a UBI is essentially a base wage that you will receive every month which will be the absolute bare minimum you need to survive. Without going into too much discussion about the different needs people have or peoples different ideas of comfort or "Oh no! Communism!" I want to say that this ties in just nicely with the Globalization of the Internet. As everyone's basic needs are met, we will all be faced with a life conundrum that people have been struggling with since the dawn of time. "What do I want to do?'' versus "What do I need to do?" But without the latter we are free to choose what we want rather than what we need. If this is eventually implemented globally as the internet becomes available worldwide, then woweee, I can't even begin to imagine the revolutionary ideas that are going to send us to the stars!

It is a flippin' exciting time to be alive, enjoy every moment, as people are going to ask you in the future "How did you live like that? Working 40 hours a week? Paying for healthcare? Not having a decent internet connection? Eating sentient animals? Dealing with corrupt centralized authorities?"

And you will tell them, 

"Back in my day, son..."
