Organizational Hiccups...They Happen

in #personal6 years ago

I ended the last self-organizational post with these words:

Continue the personal organization process and put some discipline into it.

And have done nothing along those lines since...

Of course, I have excuses

  • I got loaded Sunday night, and have been feeling ugh since then
  • A week long rain has dried up, necessitating work on the pool
  • And along with the rain, the septic tank overflowed ;>

So it's not like I been sitting on my butt the last coupla days, but I haven't finished up what I set out to do...and that's OK

Life happens

...and when it happens, you deal with what is INSTEAD of what you'd like

What I'd like was to finish this self-organizational process and get back to writing; but what is was a green pool and an odorous discharge in the front yard.

Now I could have indulged in some self-discipline and after I took care of the priorities, kept hacking away at this block of marble that will become a 100% efficient and merciless writing machine, but hangover...

And I have learned some lessons from this...either that or I have started applying the lessons I have learned from previous episodes along these lines.

  • Pick your priorities - you can't have nastiness around your house when you are trying to get stuff done.
  • Booze is bad, hmmkay - I wish I had learned this lesson in my 20's (think of the money and time I would have saved) instead of in my late 40's. I haven't drank in a while, and I was able to polish off 9 beers...which would have incapacitated me completely last year...thank g^d for weightlifting, ne?: Wait, stop bragging Steve ;> It is not that drinking is bad, but it is too easy to indulge in and have to pay the price for later.
  • Missing goals is not bad in itself - It depends on the priorities those goals were set to address
  • Rome wasn't built in a day - This ties in closely with the last. Some goals are long-term; whether that is dieting, body-building, learning self-discipline, or any other process that requires a lot of work to achieve. Sometimes you will slip, or be knocked off the path. Get back up and continue on your way!

What I'd Like

  • Get back to writing
  • Get back to writing @informationwar material and helping the community: I think we are moving towards some movement on the Drain The Swamp front very quickly.
  • Go to Gym More

These things are well within reach ;>

This is not me...yet ;>

Sort:

self motivation is a funny thing. all the good intentions in the world and I still cant get my self off the smokes and to the gym.

I hope that you can motivate your self to get back to writing. I have decided this week to read the blogs of as many people on the power up leagues as possible to show a little support in their quest to grow, and being on the leagues I really do hope that your motivation comes back.

I also just noticed you have a few spare witness votes. I do hope that you will consider @steemcommunity as one of your votes.

any of these life changes take a lot of work and persistence; I've been going to the gym for 9 months, yet I am still a fatass becuase I haven't corraled eating yet.

no biggie, do what ya can when ya can, and stya focused on the road ahead!

Smoking is one of the harder things to get under control, so don't be disappointed if it takes you a long time to beat

and no prob on adding @steemcommunity to my witness votes!

at least you are making it to the gym. Smoking is a pure addiction, actually for a smoker, I make a very good non smoker they way I go on about how bad it is. I am a walking advertisement not to smoke.

Thank you very much for the witness vote. Trying to rise up the ladder is difficult so every bit of support helps

I think the gym is the first step; building up my muscle mass has helped me in many ways, not the least that I feel so much better on a daily basis.

It should probably be the first thing you do. And if you are worried about putting on the wrong kind of muscle (many women worry about getting a bulked up look), remember that it takes a long time and a lot of effort for women not to look like women...normal gym routines just get a person in better shape overall.

I was so badly out of shape when I started that I am still about 3 months behind normal progress for lifting in my age bracket. I hurt so bad after the first session that I could barely move for most of the week after.

But, and this is the kicker...the good feeling I am getting from working myself back into shape is aiding me in all other aspects of life now (other than writing, but that is a priority issue)

I think the gym would in the long run help you in your bid to quit smoking.

And y'all are welcome for the witness vote!

I know the feeling, but I did get another book cranked out... now working on #3- Selected Essays

you know the drill, get a post up about the new book released, and let me know, and I share it all over the place ;>
