YOUR HEART WILL BE WHERE YOUR TREASURE IS
I greet all stemians in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ and God the Father.
It's a great blessing to always learn from the teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Let's learn from Matthew 6:16-23 since there are some warnings in the passage.
Jesus taught about praying constantly and Christians are also expected to fast. Giving alms, praying and fasting are the three ' acts of righteousness ' according to (verse 1).Like the first two, first denial (fasting) is not for show.
The Pharisees had their legalized fasting (Luke 18:12).Some of them would make sure that not only God but others knew of their fasting.
Que : How can we fast in the way Jesus approved ? What practical ways can you take to obey verse 17-18 ?
Notice that our attitude to materials possessions is an indication of where our priorities lie.
The reason corruption and embezzlement of funds is rampant in our continent and even in the church , is because our security is in what we possess rather than in God, the Giver. You will notice the two reasons why we should never trust in earthly possessions (verse 19-21)
Brethren I implore us all to never allow the pursuit of earthly treasures to blur our vision of Heaven (22-23).Whatever you may acquire on earth is yours only for a while so we shouldn't be consumed with it.
As Christians Heaven is our destined place after this life and it is there only that our ultimate treasure is.
It's true that true treasures is only in heaven and not on earth because earthly treasures can't live in eternity.I pray that God gives us grace to store our treasures in heaven so that our hearts will be in Heaven as God wants it to be in Jesus name.
