Walk With Me Along Le Sentier Eucher
We decided to go on a little hike yesterday to change it up a little bit. Normally, we would just take the dogs down to the beach and give them a run too. But yesterday, we decided to leave them behind and hike up the mountain near our house to this cross that was built on top. Taking the dogs was possible, but the trail is much more populated than our regular spot and they would have to be on a leash. The thing with trying to walk two labs in the woods with a leash when they normally have free reign to run - you can't. Walking them along a road on a leash is okay because they're trained for it. But in the woods is a completely different story. They would have been pulling and jerking up the whole trail so it was best that we left them home. They were a little pissed off about it, but they'll get over it once I take them out today.
Anyway, come along for the hike as me, @inkpixie, and @landonator hike the "Sentier Eucher."
Start of the trail. I have no idea what 'Eucher' means. 'Sentier' is a trail in French but Eucher wouldn't even show up in Google Translator so maybe it's someone's name, or someone reading this can figure it out.
Get those arms out for balance.
The first viewpoint. Not to high up yet, but still a nice view.
There were a lot of stone structures along the way. Most likely just really old foundations from some long forgotten buildings.
Halfway up, time for a selfie break.
Almost at the top now. Things are starting to look a little tiny down below.
We made it to the top and had ourselves some delicious PB&J sandwiches. Here's @inkpixie having a very deep intellectual conversation with @landonator. Or they're talking about cartoons; one of the two.
After lunch, I broke out the drone to get a little more height on the picture. I bet there are a lot of pictures of this cross taken by a lot of people, but how many are from an extra 30 feet up?
As you can see, it was pretty windy up there for my little drone so I didn't spend a lot of time flying around getting any video. It would have taken forever just to straighten it out to make it presentable.
I thought that hike would have tired @landonator out for the rest of the day, but no such luck. When we got home he still was jam-packed with energy. Maybe next time he can carry his own backpack. Thatt might work to kill his energy, not that I don't want him to have lots of energy; I just want to be able to wear him out. It's getting harder and harder as he gets bigger and bigger.
interesting activities with a beautiful view ... nice.
I love the family selfie, and the views at the end of the hike were to die for.
I totally know what you mean about the kids getting bigger and it's so hard to wear em out. Our kids would have fallen asleep on the car ride home, about 1 block away from the house, and when we turn off the vehicle they're bright eyed and bush tailed like they just got a full 8 hours DOH!
It’s great to see another generation of King’s enjoying the outdoors. Time well spent for sure.
