Turkish Halva Shop 🇹🇷😇

Any sweet lover among you? I guess my only weakness in this life is sweets. I can say no to everything, but when it comes to dessert, I can never say no. After a meal or after salty snacks, I definitely want sweet food. Although my priority is Turkish baklava, I also love to eat halva. Especially halva made with semolina is my favourite.

Whenever I eat halva it takes me back to my childhood. When we were kids, my mother used to make halvah whenever we wanted dessert. We were financially weak back then. We couldn't get everything we wanted. Fortunately, making halva was not expensive. I don't know if it was because I was a child, but this poverty never upset me. Despite everything, there was peace in our house at that time. I always remember a happy childhood until the age of 6.

Recently, my friend told me about a newly opened sweet shop. Recently, various shops have started to open in my country about food. Restaurant owners entered a race among themselves. He started making efforts to become popular on social media by making changes in design to attract customers. Of course, this race was very good for us, the customers. We are constantly having different experiences.

When my friend mentioned the halva shop, I wanted to go and experience it right away. As I said, I never say no when it comes to dessert. By the way, I liked the place I went to. I generally prefer comfortable places. I need to feel comfortable there when I go inside. The design of the place was beautiful, but the most beautiful was the smell of halva.

We sat by the window and enjoyed our halvah with ice cream. While we were eating, we talked about our childhood. By the way, halva has an important place in our culture. It is also often performed at funerals. After someone dies, halva is cooked after him, accompanied by prayers. In general, prayers are made so that the deceased does not suffer torment in the grave. Cooked halva is served to the visitors who come to the funeral. According to the old Turkish belief; It is believed that the smell of halva during roasting reaches the soul of the deceased and feeds his soul. Both the soul of the deceased is fed and the people who come to the funeral are satiated.

Some also roast halva during the year of the deceased. Of course, not only at the time of death, but also on holy days, halva is roasted and distributed to at least 7 neighbors. Friday is the holy day of the Islamic world. In Anatolian lands, halva is roasted at home and distributed to people on Fridays. Sometimes I do this on holy days too. I wish you good wishes while making halva. I pray for my family to be healthy and my home to be prosperous. I really like doing this. I don't want these and similar customs, which have survived to the present day, to never end.
