Meet the Shipbuilders

in #story9 years ago (edited)

The ship is one means of transportation that already existed in the world since ancient times, even Noah was also known for big ship ever made to accommodate humans and beasts of all kinds.

In addition, the ship is also used for transporting logistics, war needs, food and any items that needed by the people around the world.

Ships, in some places, including in Aceh is one means of transportation that is still made in a simple way, i.e by using wood and the materials that provided by nature here.

For shipbuilders, of course they already know what wood that be the best for ship material, and of course that wood was not eaten by termites, not quickly decompose, and durable.

As performed by this Pusong village community. Pusong is a place in the coastal area, and the community work of Pusong area is dominated by the fishermen who fish into the sea in each day.

Please see the results of my journey yesterday on a shipbuilding point in Lhokseumawe.

MATERIALS

I once interviewed a fisherman who was assembling of this great ship, I asked him, why you do not use fiber as raw material shipbuilding? He said, actually fiber and wood have almost the same price, but the fishermen here still difficult to find the fiber materials.

THE INSIDE PART

Although today many other materials such as iron and fiber, but Aceh's natural resources are still provide opportunities for fishermen to use wood as the main material of making ships. In addition to cheap, wood is still easily obtained.

REAR SIDE

In this part, will be installed motor (ship engine)

LOW PART

Barn ship is made very neatly by shipbuilders experts, they were able to lay the wood into a beautiful ship and the barn will not be able buffeted by the sea waves when sailing soon.

FRONT SIDE

Look at the neatness, at this stage of course, require technical and skilled team to roll the wood. And the wood is not fracture.

LEAK-PROOF COATING

The fishermen were working on the ship at the bottom, this part is coated with aluminum, and nailed tight, so it can be painted with a leak-proof coating.

SHIPS WALL (Bulkhead)

GLUE

The fishermen using the epoxy as the primary glue to stick the perforated wooden parts, for example, after nailing and on the wooden sides tattered.

WOOD PRESERVATION TECHNIQUES

Diesel fuel is used to paint the first layer, this meant that the wood used on the entire surface of the ship can be durable and not eaten by termites.

ALMOST READY TO SAIL

At this point, the ship is almost ready, and soon the ship will soon sail, just waiting for the tides, and the ship could be moved on the water.

In answer to your question as to why i vote with 1 steem power :
Its usually only done in my coments section to let the person know im supporting the comment and i only raise it if its a really good or great reply this is because i upvote ALOT Of my followers posts !!! And if i kept all my votes high i would run out of voteing power and it would drop to 20 or less meaning my votes would harm more people then do any good ! You need to try and keep your voteing power at least above 60 percent !
The only other time i reduce my voteing power is when im trying to build it back up again if it drops below 50 percent ! Then i also dont vote as much eigther ! But usually when my power is high i vote from at least 70 percent so i can give many more people a few cents instead of nothing ! Thanks !👍💙 Also most that i know vote this way as well if they upvote comments ! Or they just dont upvote comments at all ! I do it as a kind of " like "thing you would see on facebook !

I got the chance to meet and tour the build yard of a friend of a friend in Portugal. They had two boats going, all wood fishing boats... just amazing to watch these boats being worked on... craftsmen like these are fading away...I hope more emerge.

Wow!, I remember, the ships from Portugal is already very famous, and once sailed the seas in the Aceh region since time immemorial. In fact, I also had a chance to visit a Portugal ship replica in the Samudra museum, in Malaysia. I am glad to hear, thank you for visiting my blog @kyusho
