Mental Illness Shocking News
Hi Steemians, I just read in an online news media that the FG says around 30 million Nigerians suffer from mental illness, I didn’t know whether to believe it or not. Do they know how many 30 million is? Do they know this is more than the population of many countries? Are they all living with us? Who is taking care of them?
As I sat back to digest the news I realized it is possible, life is not easy these days, people are put under a lot of pressure from family members, the community, government and just everything is making one blow off the roof. People work so hard these days but it doesn’t mean all their effort is able to settle the bills that keep mounting. I’ve heard of many men who took their wives to the hospital for child delivery and when they are told their wife had triplets or more they run away from the hospital never to be seen again. Now you ask yourself, isn’t that type of news supposed to make a man happy? It is in a normal environment but when the only thing that comes to your mind is all the expenses you’ll be incurring then the heart won’t find a space for joy and happiness.
We’ve also heard of people committing suicide by jumping into a river, you’ll now want to ask yourself why somebody would do that. I see people getting angry sports argument and at the end of the day one friend stabs the other to death. There are also people who go to the market and start laughing uncontrollable and you wonder what is going on.
There are many things am recollecting now which makes me believe the government might be correct and if that is the case we really need to do something fast to help people suffering from mental illness so that people don’t injury themselves or injury others.
