HOW TO PREPARE "HUMBA"-Visayan Cuisine

Hello steemit friends! Today I want to share with you how to cook Humba - a visayan braised pork dish. It resembles as pork adobo in appearance. It is also popular and one of the most favorite cuisine in the Southern Philippines.

This dish uses all of the following ingredients:

*Pork
*Onion
*Garlic
*Black pepper
*Star anise
*Bay leaf
*Magic sarap/seasonings
*Soft drinks/sprite
*Soy sauce
*Sugar

Now let's begin to cook.

First cut the pork like a tiny box. Not too big not also too small.

After cutting the pork, let's put some salt, mix it and set it aside. Prepare the onion and the garlic and cut it into tiny pieces.

Prepare also to heat oil in a pot over medium heat. When the oil is already hot, let's put the pork and sear until the pork became golden brown in color.

When the pork is already golden browned in color, saute the garlic and onion on the excess oil of the pork until golden and aromatic.

After that, add the rest of the ingredients.

First, put the soy sauce half of the sachet, remember that the quantity of the soy sauce depends on the quantity of the pork you have.

Next put the softdrinks, I used sprite. The sofdrinks help to make the pork soften and tender. Stir it and cover the pot for atleast 3-5 minutes.

After simmer put the star anise, black pepper and bay leaf. Add more water if needed. Cover the pot until meat is fork-tender.

Remove the cover and add magic sarap and brown sugar, stir it to enhances the rich flavor of the sauce and cover for atleast 5-10 minutes.

Transfer to a serving dish and serve.
