The Rockies host the Cubs tonight in Colorado

The Chicago Cubs and Colorado Rockies get their weekend series started tonight. First pitch is set for 7:40pm Central Standard Time and the game can be seen on National Television on WGN. It will take place at Coors Field in Denver, Colorado. The Rockies are small favorites at -112 and the over/under is 10 runs.

The Cubs are 8-8 so far through their first 16 games. They have had some terrible starting pitching but are coming off of a nice 8-5 win over the St. Louis Cardinals. They will send their best statistical pitcher to the mound tonight, Kyle Hendricks. He has the lowest ERA on the team at 3.71. It will be imperative that Hendricks keeps the ball down while pitching to a dangerous Rockies line up. As far as the Cubs bats go, they will likely be drooling at the chance to take some cuts in the thin Colorado air. Rizzo and Bryant will be swinging for the fences all weekend and I think they will both connect of a few deep home runs.

The Rockies are 11-9 on the year and playing good baseball. They are 1st in the MLB in home runs. Charlie Blackmon is leading the team with 7 HRs and DJ LeMahieu is next with 5. They have hit 27 as a team and will certainly try to improve on those numbers all weekend at Coors Field. Their starting pitcher tonight will be Jon Gray. He has struggled so far this season and is 1-3 with an ERA of 6.23. He may have a hard time tonight against the Cubs powerful line up.

Tonight’s game should feature plenty of offense. Both teams have the potential to put up some big runs so it should be a wild one.
