The 2017 summer transfer window has been a very busy one, with the record transfer fee already extended to £222 million. However, a lot of big name transfers are still yet to happen. Either clubs have not bid on them or their clubs are not just interested in selling, we take a look, in no particular order, at the biggest transfers that are yet to happen.

Kylian Mbappe (AS Monaco)

After the departure of Benjamin Mendy and Tiemoue Bakayako, it was certain that Monaco were trying to sell their best players for money. All that was left was the departure of last season’s wonder kid, Mbappe. After attracting the finest clubs all around Europe, it was almost certain that he will not be playing for Monaco next season.
However, interests in the French international have cooled down, with major clubs interested in him looking at other options. Clubs like Barcelona, Real Madrid and Manchester City were all interested but none made a bid on him.
Latest rumors suggests that Ligue 1 rivals, Paris Saint-Germain are considering a loan bid for him, with an option to fully sign next season. They are not able to sign him this season because of the world record fee already paid to bring Neymar to the club. Any other huge signings will see them banned by the FIFA financial fair play rule.

Philippe Coutinho (Liverpool)

At the start of the transfer window, Liverpool announced that Philippe Coutinho was not for sale. This news was received well by clubs and it looked like the Brazilian international was set for another season at Anfield. However, with the departure of Neymar from Barcelona to PSG, Barcelona poured all their hopes into bringing Coutinho to Spain.
They made two bids in the space of one week and Liverpool rejected them both. This prompted Coutinho to hand in a transfer request to enable him join Barcelona. Liverpool remained firm and still went on to deny a rumoured £126 million deal for him. He has not featured in a game for the reds for well over a month now, partly due to injury but Jurgen Klopp has stated that he will welcome him back with open arms when he returns from injury.

Ousmane Dembele (Borussia Dortmund)

After an impressive season with Borussia Dortmund, Dembele became a top target in the transfer market. And it was so obvious he wanted to leave to a bigger club with his whole attitude during the transfer window. Borussia announced that they were not interested in selling him, this made him to miss training for days without the club knowing his whereabouts. A move that was heavily criticized by the club, the fans and his teammates alike. Borussia defender, Sokratis, has called his behaviour childish saying no player is bigger than the club. Even though Barcelona have not made an official bid for him, it is still obvious that he has set his mind on leaving the club.

Virgil Van Dijk (Southampton FC)

Before the end of last season, Van Dijk was already a target for the top clubs in the English Premier League. Chelsea and Liverpool were the major clubs interested in him. He even handed in a transfer request, which the club accepted. But when Liverpool were caught trying to talk to the player behind the club’s back, they dropped interest in him. However, after a poor defensive display in their opening match of the season, they began to look into him again. Chelsea on the other hand were only interested in him for a short while at the beginning of the transfer window, but went on to sign Rudiger. Van Dijk didn’t feature in any match for Southampton over the pre-season and has not played any match since the season began. He, however, is back in training with the U-18 side of the club.

Diego Costa (Chelsea)

Diego Costa and Chelsea’s coach, Antonio Conte had a falling out after last season. This made Conte announce that Costa was no longer needed in the club. When this was announced, everyone thought Costa was going to find a new club within days, but he is yet to.
The major side interested in him is Atletico Madrid, but he will not be able to play for them till January 2018, making them not to make a bid for him as they will not want to pay him for 6 months for not playing. Beskistas fan also went on an online campaign begging Costa to join the club, but no official bid was made for him.
Right now, Costa is still a Chelsea player and we can only wait to see what will happen if the transfer window closes and Costa does not sign for a new club.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Manchester United)

When Zlatan Ibrahimovic suffered a knee injury last season, people thought that was the end of him. Even Manchester United had no choice but to release him. But now, he is back from injury and he is getting fitter every day. Even though no club will want to spend big money on a 34-year-old, Zlatan has proven that age is not a barrier for him. And there are reports that he is in the process of signing a new deal with Manchester United.
We still have about a week left until the transfer window closes, and we might just see one or more of this players moving to a new club.
