Pitcher Showdown

Erasmo Ramirez will be pitching for the Tampa Bay Rays, Erasmo Ramirez has had very hot start to the season as his record is 3-0 with a 2.92 ERA and 27 strikeouts. Last season, Erasmo finished with a 7-11 record, a 3.77 ERA and only 26 strikeouts. So, he already has more strikeouts, not even half way through the 2017 season, than he had all of the 2016 season! That's pretty impressive if I were to say so myself.

For the Rangers, Martin Perez will take the mound. Perez has had a shaky start to the season, his record sits at 2-5 with a 3.77 ERA and 40 strikeouts. Perez has pitched his whole career with the Rangers, he is just a mediocre pitcher, he will never be a Clayton Kershaw, but, he could be doing better than what he's doing now.

Tampa Bay Rays

The home run hitting Rays will look to kill the ball tonight in Texas. The Rays are currently second in the league in home runs hit, and they are only 2 home runs behind leading the league in home runs! Logan Morrison, the Rays 1st baseman has 14 home runs and he is the number 7 player in the league for home runs hit, but, he is only 3 away from taking the lead!

The Rays are currently sitting in 4th place in their division, but, that could change very quickly. They are only 5 games behind the New York Yankees, the first place team. And, believe it or not, in 2016, the Rays won 4/6 meetings with the Rangers after Texas won 5/7 in 2015.

Texas Rangers

The Rangers, who just snapped a season-long, five game winning streak last night with a 3-1 win over the Blue Jays, will attempt to start a winning streak. On the season, the Rangers are 16-8 at home while 9-18 on the road. One reason the Rangers have had a troubling start to the season is because they have a start whom is injured. That star is Adrian Beltre, and he has a large possibility of making his season debut tonight. He can definitely put the bat on the ball very well, so that would be a great addition to the team.

Believe it or not, Joey Gallo, the Rangers 3rd basemen, is leading the league in home runs hits with 15! Gallo, who is batting a horrendous .198 is somehow leading the league in home runs, how? I have no clue! Also, get this, not one person on the Rangers starting lineup is batting .300! But, somehow, they have 25 wins. It must be in the pitching, that's where they are strong.
