Prediction: From the beginning of the tournament, I expected Chile to win. I stay true to myself and predict Chile 3-1 Germany.

First meeting: Chile and Germany met in the group stage already, and the match ended peacefully 1-1.

The desire to win: Anyone who saw the semi-final between Portugal and Chile must have also seen how determined the Chileans are to win.

Attack versus defense: Germany has proved to be a top scoring team thus far and they have already scored 11 goals in 4 matches. Chile, on the other side, has the best defense and only conceded 2 goals thus far.

The future of Germany: The Germans just won the Euro U21 and now, they have a shot to win the Confederation Cup with the second squad of youngsters. In other words - the rest of the world is f-ed.

Road to the Final

Both Chile and Germany played in Group B. Both teams beat Cameroon 2-0 and 3-1, respectively. Even though Cameroon was playing pretty nice in the Confederation Cup, it was very clear that both Chile and Germany were much better teams. When Chile and Germany played each other, I was pretty sure about the Chileans victory, but the game ended 1-1. To be honest, I don't understand why Chile stopped attacking after they scored early in the match. Chile's passive game-plan was their undoing. However, Germany showed character and managed to come back into the game, which is pretty impressive for such a young team. Also, Germany beat Australia 3-2, and that game was more like an exhibition game without any defense. I really expected more from Germany. That said, Chile played even worse against Australia and they were behind after the first half. Only Rodriguez's goal late in the match saved Chile's ass and put them through to the semi-finals.
The semi-finals were completely different for Chile and Germany. Chile faced Portugal and had a very tough match, but managed to prevail after a penalty shoot-out. However, Chile was the better team throughout the match against Portugal, as well. They missed some great opportunities to score the late winner when Vidal's strike hit the bar, and Sanchez's shot was blocked by the defender. It really looked like the fortune is on Portugal's side that day... but we saw what happened during the shoot-out. Chile crushed Portugal 3-0 (I have never seen such a dominance) and moved to the finals. To me, Claudio Bravo was the man of the match because he kept a clean sheet during the penalties. That man saved all three shots! I bet he is not afraid of Germany's attackers anymore.

If You Have Any Questions About the Chileans Love for Football, Watch This:

Taking the "football is life" phrase to a whole new level.
Germany had a much easier game against Mexico. Goretzka scored two early goals in 6th and 8th minute, and the game was pretty much over. Yes, Mexico still tried to make something happen and it even looked like Mexico might score at least one goal before the half time, but Germany's defense stood strong. Also, Chicharito wasted a perfect opportunity right before the halftime, which could have brought Mexico back into the game. At that moment, coach Low must have realized that it was not clever to apply a full-defensive mode and he made his players attack more again in the second half. That resulted in the third goal, which sealed the deal. Mexico managed to get one back after Fabian launched the ball to the back of the net from like 50 meters, but the game ended 4-1 in Germany's favor. Well, at least Fabian will be happy because his goal will definitely be the best goal of the Confederations Cup... unless someone would score a bicycle kick on the last second of the final.

Chile Knows How to Win

I must acknowledge the fact that I underestimated Germany. This team of young guys proved me wrong throughout the competition and produced some of the best quality football in the Confederations Cup. I must say that I am impressed with Germany's attacking players and I look forward seeing them winning World Cups in five years or so. However, Germany conceded at least one goal in every match they played, and that should be threatening for Germany's coach. I mean, Chile won't stop after scoring one goal in the final like they did in the group stage. Also, Chile won't be happy with a draw this time.
Chile has not played their best football just yet, but, it was enough to reach the final. To be honest, I am happy with Chile's defense as they've only allowed two goals in four matches and kept Portugal by their balls for 120 minutes. That is an impressive achievement. Sadly, the offensive game was not very convincing, thus far. Even though Chile's midfielders create some good chances, somehow attackers, such as Vargas and Sanchez, fail to send the ball to the goal. I don't understand where the problem hides because those are some world-class players and they should not be affected by stress, but something is not right. With that being said, Chile knows how to win, especially when it comes to tight games. We saw it two times against Argentina in Copa de America, and we witnessed it again versus Portugal, a couple of days ago.
I will stick with my prediction: Chile 3-1 Germany. However, I would not be surprised to see an overtime and penalties shoot-out once again (it seems that Chile loves that). Even though bookies see Germany as slight favorites to win, if I were to bet my money on someone, it would be the hearts of Chilean players. I believe those German youngsters will win a lot of trophies in the future, but it is not yet the time.

I love the passion with which you analyse these match ups and present such a thorough write up. Even for a novice, it should be easy to spot the winning team with the help of your blogs. I agree that Chileans have a good chance to win because of their hearts (the passion they have). The only part that worries me is that they do not attack enough. The need a win and not just a draw.

Thank you a lot for good words, @vm2904! Yes, Chile will need to attack a little more to win, but I bet they know it as well and will do it. However, Germans are also strong, so we can never be completely sure about what will happen. But I still think it's going to be Chile

so excited for this

I think it is going to be a difficult game for both teams. I secretly hope that Goretzka will seal the deal again at #8minutes ;-)

What was that old saying? Football is a nice game, that's always won by Germany :))

Classic!!! This time, however, I believe it will be different.

great generation for chile winning copa last year and keep on that level very impressing i think if they play with that much heart like in the last games it should work out... but germany is germany we will see hope for a good game!

Yup, hopefully, it will be a good game! I would be happy if it went to the extra-time

Yes thats what a final needs.
Something like 2:2 in regular time one team misses a penalty in extra time and then the winner get decided in the penalties... :-D

My support is for Germany all the @steemsports

I expect Chile to win. Chile 2 - 1 Germany.

I go for Chile too. Their heart , their passion for the sport, they overflow. <3

If Germ won, you think it would be close?

Finals are usually close games as teams tend to be more defensive and careful. This time, however, I think it will be more open game, but if Germany wins, it must be close. I don't think that Chile would lose by more than 1 goal

I'll say penalties! Or at least i hope so :D
