Chilko experience dream trip to the Wilderness
If St. George Cornelius Vanderbilt, founder of the Biltmore Estate, and john muir, America’s leading naturalist who inspired the U.S. parkland system, collaborated to make the ultimate luxury/nature experience for their friends and family, it'd be the Chilko experience. a private seven home $10M luxury estate built in the pristine British Columbia wilderness for the use of friends & family. it has recently opened to the general public for the first time. it's better of breed due to what it’s not, another lodge. they provide an estate experience. Their strengths are three. World class design. they have homes not cabins. a higher than world class location in southern British Columbia on a 5M pristine wilderness tract. Lastly, nice adventures within the middle of this setting that allows friends to connect with nature at the highest level possible. John Muir would approve.
Accommodation in the most luxurious houses
The Chilko Experience Wilderness Resort offers many luxurious types of Rural accommodation, chef prepared meals and include all guided activities.
Main House
The main house is a 4,000 SF structure which is the hub of operations. It's the dining and social center and contains three guest rooms.
Carl's House
Carl's House is two bedroom/two baths timber frame. It offers two king-size beds, and one single and might sleep up to five persson.
Tower House
The Tower House is 2500 square feet of space with a one bedroom loft and 1 1/2 baths. It is the owners, Phil and Anne's custom home.
Annie's Tea House
Annie's Tea house log home is excellent for a couple. It comes with one bedroom and one and a half bath.
Guided Activities Offered
The Chilko experience doesn't force its guests a fixed activity itinerary but rather lets them build their own from the dozen attainable activities offered.
ATV trail riding
Perhaps the favourite repeatable activity is ATV backwoods path tours. Chilko is blessed with an abundance of off road trails that take you to places few have been.
Lake tours in cabin cruiser
Chilko Lake is North America’s largest alpine lake. It’s fifty miles long, 1,100 ft deep and ringed by mountains and glaciers. The day includes a picnic lunch and shore stops at points of interest. simply the top rated event of all guests.
Horseback trail riding
A path ride that rises 4,000 ft from the valley floor to a bed of ocean fossils at the crest of the Potato mountain range at 7,000 ft is remarkable.
Hiking
Guided hiking available. The path up Tulin Mountain that overlooks Chilko Lake is one in every of the best hikes in bc. There are numerous other trails.
Fishing, Fly Fishing
Lake fishing at Chilko and close lakes is top notch. Rainbow and bull trout are the only species available. guided Lake fishing is included in services offered under the comprehensive package. The Chilko river offers fly fishing on classified waters on a catch and release basis only.
Kayaks & Canoes
Both are available for lake use on a guided basis. silently glide on the shore and revel in the vistas and life.
Photography
Chilko is a photographer’s dream with its wonderful vistas and life. the autumn salmon run and resultant grizzly bear viewing opportunities bring photographers from around the world.
River tours
A Chilko river tour by jet boat is a delight as the scenery changes at each bend. many bald eagles on the river as fish is their primary food source. Jet refers to the sort of boat motors used on the shallow draft rivers.
