Pool water may be contaminated with diarrhea!!!

in #health9 years ago

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warned against swallowing pool water for fear of containing the parasite Cryptosporidium, which causes diarrhea.

Infection can lead to diarrhea, stomach cramps, nausea, vomiting and dehydration. The parasite can survive up to 10 days in chlorinated water.

The infection is transmitted to the water from a person infected with the disease through diarrhea, and it is not required to sip the mouth of contaminated water to infection.

The centers advise swimmers not to swallow the pool water. Parents also advise that children should not be allowed to swim if they have diarrhea (so as not to transmit the infection), and those who have already been infected should not swim until two weeks after the diarrhea has stopped.

I used to swim when i was younger and even in private pools, finding a giant turd at the bottom of the pool was a pretty regular occurrence.
