Cyber warfare is no less dangerous than armed attacks or terrorism attacks!!!!

Friday's attack - which has swept 200,000 computers in 150 countries - has recalled the potential dangers of cyberwar.

In this regard, author Elizabeth Pro in an article in the British Times newspaper on the seriousness of the electronic war, which is no less than any form of armed attacks, and called for the development of a new definition of war.

To illustrate this, the writer envisioned the following scenario: The power grid suddenly stopped working, the Internet was disrupted, the citizens were unable to communicate or travel, and because the large commercial markets that were dependent on their Internet system were also disrupted, there was a shortage of food.

Last Friday, the British Health Care Organization (PHC) signed a victim of the ransomware attack, causing many hospitals and health centers to be overwhelmed. Some of them were forced to transfer ambulances to nearby hospitals that were not affected by the cyber-attack.

Europe is subject to dozens of cyber-attacks every year and is experiencing an upsurge in "gray conflicts." These gray conflicts are not wars, but a new and powerful combination of threats, propaganda and economic pressures.

Because the intruder or information soldier does not cross the border with weapons, he is not called war. According to current military definitions, war is the conflict over land. But destabilizing another country through electronic penetration is like the hostility of deploying military forces along its borders.

At the Warsaw Summit last year, NATO defense ministers agreed to upgrade cyberspace to the operational space, giving it the same importance to the air, sea and land. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg described cyberspace as part of the "collective defense" system.

But Article V of the 1949 Treaty establishing NATO - which defines the principles of collective defense - speaks only of "armed attack".

To respond to the attacks of the 21st century, these principles must be redefined. The Pentagon recently noted that the United States needed a "much more detailed map of the distance between peace and war."

Politicians and military leaders must respond more quickly to the challenge of cyber-attacks, and citizens must recognize that our way of life is fragile in the face of such attacks that have already begun.
