Why Germans drink that much Beer ?
Beer Who doesn't like it ? However when we think about a nation who loves it , Germany comes to mind directly .We all know that Germany loves beer and even has Oktoberfest, but there is historical evidence why Germans love beer so much!
Story
Medieval age historian Ruth A. Johnson wrote that only the poor and monks used to drink water from natural resources due to getting sick off the water and the contamination from the 14th century black plague. Mortality rate of these people who drank the water from natural sources were much higher compared to other parts of the society. Even the richest didn't have the luxury to buy it pure like us but they had something better. All of the drinkable water available was mixed with small portions of alcohol as decontaminant. They even mixed the water with wine but not as popular as just simply drinking beer! All of us are familiar with beer, but then they didn't consume the beer we drink today, they drank ale. Since they didn't have modern storage technology, ale had the shelf life of 5 days. However , the real reason behind this low shelf life is that ale doesn't contain the hops plant. Just imagine how much work they put in for their drinking water!
The average medieval men drank 3 to 4 liters of beer daily. Since beer was used like water, the average beer pot was a thousand liters. There was no developed taste for beer nor an apprentice, master type of crafting. It was a thing every family had to do themselves for their family. They didn't consume beer for the alcohol so their beer was pretty light so not everyone was drunk. No wonder why Germans today drink so much beer!

Awesome... I've often wondered about this, but didn't take the time to find out why. So I suspected that probably it was simply traditional.
