Where is the name Neanderthal Come From ?
Well these weird looking humans was living in world 200.000 years ago and according to scientists they extinced 28.000 years ago. The story how they got their name is quite interesting one.
Before he died in 1680's the poet and bard Joachim Neander was searching his muse in some valley quite close to his home. The village folk was loving him , therefore after he passed away they named this special valley after his name and called it neander thal(valley).
After many years , in 1856 workers found human bones in a cave named Feldhoffor Grotto , well ofcourse this cave is located in Neander valley. Because of the lime's though structure workers couldn't take the bones out without damaging them. They couldn't get some good speciments however there was a good skull for scientists to examine.

These bones first showed to the villages science and mathematic enthusiast history teacher Carl Fuhlrott. Sadly , he his information and equipment was not enough to examine those bones , however he noticed that these looks like human but they are not human. He sended these bones to one of the universities anatomy professor Herman Schaafhausen. He instantly noticed the weird thing in the bones and he thanked carl for delivering him the bones.
After a year in 1857 , he finished his study and he released his paper about this bones and declared that this bones are belong to the before human ancestors and he named them after the valley neandertal.
