GMO and Industrial Agriculture
GMO usage in industrial agriculture have skyrocketed in the last decade, allowing the monopoly of constitutions over the market. Imported seeds are expensive for the local farmers and the demand of masses are shifting to GMO'ed products due to lack of knowledge on the topic.
Some people claim that selection of healthier plants and breeding them is GMO but the truth is far more wicked. To amplify pesticide resistance some genes altered to produce chemicals with the plants growth, selected from a completely different gene; not necessarily another plant.
Now this gene alteration is not only made to increase the yields, pesticide, heat or cold resistance they are altered to esnure the seed monopoly over the market by making the plants infertile. Since the demand expects products that always looks the same and with higher shelf life GMO is the perfect tool for this makeup, taking local breeds out of the business. With these characteristics of the seeds local farmers end up going out of business or forced to switch to these expensive GMO seeds that can only be produced by the companies. The leading company on this sector isMonsanto, which they already dominated the food market with products ranging from snacks, cereals, sauces, fast food etc.
The only way to end the tyranny of these corrupt organisations is through knowledge and taking actions. Support your local farmers and don't buy these companies products. In the current system worlds wealth is shifting from people to these companies. If you are living in a city you are bound to stumble on their products, so the struggle is real and it is unevitable
Aside from market monopoly, extinction of local breeds and farmers going out of business GMO products pose a hazard for all of us. GMO might induce non existent allergies in your body. The protein formed can be different from what was intented and can have significant effect on our bodies by eventually altering our own DNA and causing long term health problems, even changing our own DNA. After all we are what we eat and the human body replaces every cell in 8 years. Aside from the initial health hazards GMO poses the industrial practices are just as dangerous. Excessive usage of pesticides and the salt build up from artificial fertilizers polutes the soil and the underground water poisoning will be present in the future crops since it takes decades for the soil and the water reservoires to clean itself from the toxins.
If we were to switch to healthier production today our food will continue to posion us which brings the question what are our governments doing to protect us? Well since government only practices for their own interest their support for GMO and the companies behind them will continue. GMO ensures higher yielding, resistant crops so for them it is a solution to feed growing population and a solid economy. They also exploit small countries with this. Lets say a country wants to pass a bill preventing these crops and decrease the legal toxicity limit for such products they simply can't because of the trade agreements they make. So where do we stand in this game? We have the power to change but don't think this is easy my friend for we are one but together we are many. As the masses understand these concepts and simply stop supporting this system by changing our lifestyles we can maybe stop this mass poisoning in the long run. Spread the knowledge and give the power back to people!
The more food moves away from natural growing procedures, the worse the side effects!
thoughtful post.I saw how mnc's exploiting local farmers in the name of technology with hybrid seeds. It must end.
I totally agree with you man ! it must end
I am following. This is the subject I am interested in
It’s incredible all of the tricks these huge companies make in order to achieve its massive production.
Have you read about Shrinkflation?
Not really but I would liek to learn more
My last post is about this subject. Basically it is when companies shrink the size of a product while keeping the same price. They do this because of inflation, although another option would be to just increase the prices accordingly.
I believe quality and quantity of the products should always stay the same, otherwise how would we end up? With just crappy products available...
The FDA and Monsanto have a revolving door, nothing is going to stop them. I heard that Bayer was going to purchase them months ago... Some parts of Europe have banned GMO seeds...
Well said.👍🏽
And GMO's destroying the future.
Yes absoloutely myeog
we have to make the change
I will write an article about this phenomena. I agree with u. furthermore; Many of them are carcinogenic. I will be glad to see my ideas in my blog. thank you for this post
I'm sorry but this is just so far from scientificaly accurate. Just another person jumping on the anti-science bandwagon
This is so jacked up. It's amazing what greed and desire for power will make people do. I've known about this type of thing for a while and have taken steps to purchase quality food, local when possible. Lucky for me I live in a fairly progressive city, we have 3 natural food stores that are excellent and have decent prices and many other grocery stores carry the "specialty" products often seen in natural food stores. I wonder how other people who have no, or limited access to quality food are supposed to do. The only solid options I've come across are thrive market and mayyyyyybe things like blue apron, though I don't really know their sourcing very well. Thrive is a potential option for people, prices are still a little high though and limited to packaged goods. SOL on fresh produce.
Well man as a dude living in Turkey. I'm having the exact same struggle when I search for quality food and as you said it really requires resources both , time and money . Because natural food store prices are pretty much jacked up because the awareness to harm that Gmo products caused started to becfome well known and created demand.
