Color Challenge Thursday - Green
This is without a doubt the most challenging yoga posture for me. The one I sometimes avoid, and often don't have time for, the one I "forget" to do some days... My challenge is Stillness.
I will drive the long way around...just to avoid sitting in a traffic jam. I will go through Self Check Out at the market... just to avoid standing still in the regular line. Etc etc
Why is this so hard for me? Why do I continue to say meditating is a priority, and yet my actions speak otherwise?
peace of mind
I completely understand about how difficult it is to sit still and make one's mind shut the hell up for even a few seconds. I went through ashtanga primary series twice so far this week and now that I think about it I skipped meditating at the end as I was eager to start on dinner as it was nearly 8 p.m. by the time we finished practicing in both instances.
I always tell myself "oh I'll do it before bed" and then I forget. Then on to the next busy day in which I can manage an hour of practice, 8-10 hours of work, 2 hours of menial tasks, and then however many minutes or hours I've spent on steemit lately per day. But I can't find 5 minutes, hell even 2 minutes to meditate and properly close my practice?? That's nuts when you think about it.
But I am an impatient person. I claim to be the most impatient in the world but that just might be an exaggeration. Or not. Sitting in traffic enrages me. Having to wait on things is frustrating. Having to wait behind people in self-checkout who don't know how to use self checkout makes me want to scream. Aren't yogis supposed to be patient, understanding people? This is a major shortcoming of mine. But I happily admit and own up to it every day of my life. Glad I'm not alone in that sense.
And as always, beautiful pic.
We are much alike. Patience is not my greatest virtue either. And yes, I mean to meditate or even practice a little pranayama each day, but time flies by and before I realize it the day is done and no seated practice happened...again!
I have had some success using self imposed mental games and rules, like I don't get to have my glass of wine each night unless I meditated that day. When I did that last year...I didn't miss a single day of meditation! lol 🍷
The other method I've had success with for many things is tacking on a new habit next to one that's already well established. Like every single morning I first thing read something to keep me mindful while drinking my coffee. I never miss this reading habit because I can feel the centering and tone setting effects on my day. I need to try adding meditating right after that... 🙏🏽
Imo yogis aren't "supposed to be" better or different than anyone else. Just more aware and trying to overcome mindless habits, and that we are my friend.
Thanks for sharing your own struggles and your compliments. 🤗
I love this shot but it would be much more powerful without the nipple edit IMO. Cheers!
agreed
Yea..!
Post i lk
This is the easiest posture to people who has flat stomach.
What a great way to free the mind.
What happened to her nipples???
These new beauty standards.
Don't we all live in contradiction ? Maybe that's how living in balance really is .
Maybe you are right ?
nice
Glad you chose not to avoid that posture for this shot. Very beautiful. As for the contradictory aspects, it is likely that the yoga aspect allows you to take the necessary break from the "go, go, go" of the rest of your personality.
Thanks. Yes, stillness is the balance I need for the rest of "go go" me.
