Good to see you in Week 2 of the Steemit Engagement Challenge Season 3. This publication is the participation of the Steemkids community. The topic of discussion for today is Impacts of Technology on Kids Lives. So, let's start the discussion without any waste of time.

As we all are well aware of the fact that this is the era of technology and science. Technology and science are developing and progressing from the start of life. When we talk about the most ancient life, it was the time back that era when the people used to live in the dark and deep caves. There was even the concept of clothes and other basic needed things of life.

After that, the human mind started grooming and the teacher of this grooming was nature. The natural resources tended men to dig the ground, break the large stones of mounts, jump deep into the rivers, and cover their bodies with leaves, leather, and wool. The men started inventing different things for their basic needs. This was actually the start of technology and sciences.

Now, we are living in a scientific and technical era and we find a number of awesome inventions around us. This is all about the result of the use of positive thinking towards the resources and environmental aspects. Now, technology has been developed so successfully that we cannot live without the use of technology in our daily lives. So, let's move toward the questions that are asked by the team in regard to this contest.

Impact of technology on the World as a Whole

As I have discussed earlier that technology and actually the evolution of technology from various shapes has impacted the lives of all the organisms on the planet earth. It is not a distinction that many humans are also impacted by the advancement of technology and science. There are various matters that could be discussed under the same topic but I will give a brief explanation of some of these matters.

First of all, the evolution of technology has impacted the daily lives of human beings. In the past, we can easily consider that most people spent most of the time of their day in the natural beauty and natural things, but now, with the advancement of technology, most of them spend days and hours in electrical devices like mobile phones, and mostly the internet and social media.

If we talk about the conversation system a century ago, then we came to know that in the past era, people used to opt for the mailing and letters systems in order to contact the dears that are present in distant places away from them. This process may take days or weeks to send the message of one person to the second one who is present far away from the sender. But now, the advanced technology players its role and the far away dear ones can easily be approached via various social media like WhatsApp, Snapchat, etc. We not only chat with them but also call them in both formats (audio and video). Wow, this is a super cool impact of social media (technology) on the lives of human beings.

In another way, if we talk about the transport system of the people that were living on the planet a few years ago was very slow and destructive. When someone had to travel from one place to the other place that was present a few miles away from him, then he had to utilize hours or days in order to approach his destination. But now, modern transport systems have been introduced with the help of modern technology such as cars, buses, bikes, railways, airplanes, etc. Now, we can cover the distance in such a way that if it is compared to the past then the hours become minutes and the minutes can become even seconds.

There are many more innovations that the evolution of technology has bought into the lives of human beings on the earth. But I have discussed a few of them in a brief manner.

Positivity and Negativity of Technology in Kids Lives

As I have discussed earlier that the evolution of technology has impacted all the species present on the planet earth. So, technology has equal impacts on the lives of kids and children. We can easily say the kids that are growing these days are facing a digital and technological world around them. There are two opinions if we talk about the effect of technology on the lives of kids of today. Some of them could be positive while the others are negative. So, let's discussed them one by one.

Positivity

If we talk about the positive impacts of technology on the lives of kids then the following point is very important in this regard.

• The first and the most important advantage of technology in the kid's life is that it has many benefits in order to improve the quality of life of the kids. When a child is born, his/her first view is the medical instruments that work for the benefit of the health of the kids.

• The advanced technology has also improved the quality of drugs and medicines that are given to the child at the time of childbirth. Now, the babies that are born in the hospitals are fully vaccinated against viral diseases and this thing benefits them throughout their lives.

---

• In the growth phase of kids, technology plays a vital role in the development of skills, behaviors, and manners of the kids. The use of technological devices and instruments improves their understanding of the world.

---

• The use of technological devices like mobile phones, tablets, laptops, etc. improves the mental approach of the kids in their early life. And this thing helps them throughout their life.

---

• When the kids are in the learning phase, the use of the internet and online studies play a very fantastic role in developing the educational interests in the kids with the help of various graphical and visual representations of various things that could not be understood by theoretical methods.

• By playing games on technological devices, the thinking capacities and the mental approach of the kids improved to a very great extent and that's why I would lie to recommend that parents allow their kids to play beneficial games but within certain limits of time and attention.

Negativity

It is a natural fact that nothing is perfect in this universe. So, the same is the case with the evolution of advanced technology in the lives of kids. There are some negative aspects that are discussed below.

• First and the most important point to be noticed here is that the over and again overuse of technological devices like mobiles could harm the physical and mental health of the kids. The mental problems sometimes this cause the kids are using technological devices out of the limits.

• The overuse of everything is dangerous so the same is the case with technology, the kids become inactive and lazy due to the hand side availability of their basic needs with the help of technological instruments and devices.

---

• Many children spend most of their time on computers and laptops and this is the basic reason behind the defect of eyes and other mental disturbances.

---

• Although, playing games within certain limits is good for mental health the overplay of the games may cause the destruction of the thinking capacity of the kids and even also mental defects for the kids.

---

• Due to the high engagement in technological devices, the kids could miss out on the most important fact which is natural beauty. The views of nature and greenery are very beneficial for the kids, especially in the developmental stages.

---

• The bad use of social media and the internet may cause some serious moral issues in the kids when they grew up. These issues may include cyber crimes, bullying, blackmailing, hacking, spamming, etc.

---

• Although the use of technological devices plays a very vital role in the learning stages of the kids if these devices are blocking the way of proper studies then this could be a serious problem for both, parents and kids.

Rate of Positivity and Negativity

According to my views, if we talk about the matter of the positivity and negativity of technology for the kids then I would like to say that the positivity of the technology in the kid's lives is more than the negativity. The proper understanding of the use of technology and its positive aspects may cause the sure success of the kids in the future. But the negative aspects could be controlled by the strict eyes of the parents on the dealings of their child. So, the positivity is more than the negativity of the technology.

Although, it is accepted truth that we see many cases in our daily lives where the destruction of a family is caused by the effects of the negativity of technology on the kids' lives. But when these negative aspects are properly controlled and invigilated under the attention of the parents then there are minor cases for such conditions. So, the positivity of the technology can easily defeat the negativity caused due to the technology.

So, would rate positivity for the question of the impacts of technology on the lives of kids.

Control of Exposure of Kids to Certain Technological Products

Yes, the kids should be controlled and I think they can easily be controlled over their exposure to certain technological products. I have already discussed that control is the only way to overcome to negativities of technology in the kids' lives. Some of the factors that could be considered in this regard are as below.

• The first thing that can be considered here is that under the monitoring of parents, the kids should have access to limited content that is appropriate for their ages. The inappropriate contents should be restricted.

---

• The kids must be restricted from using their technological devices during family gatherings or time spent within the family.

---

• The online accounts of the kids must be properly monitored under the attention of parents so that their kids could not undergo bad activity via the internet.

---

• There should be limited time for the kids to use their technological devices. During that time, the kids are allowed to use their devices but under the monitoring of the parents.

---

• The most important point is that the parents should also have to limit their use of technological devices in front of the kids. If they do so, then their kids would also repeat the same regulations.

---

• The social media accounts of the kids should be monitored properly and also, there should be complete privacy there that who can contact their kids and who is restricted to do so.

Conclusions

---

This is the era of advanced technology and it is developing day by day. Not only the young ones but also the kids are also impacted by the advanced evolution of technology and technological devices. The kids can get benefits from these technological devices such that they can improve their learning, develop their skills, and improve their mental approach by playing games within limits.

There are also some negative impacts on the lives of the kids due to the evolution of advanced technology. The most important defects that the kids could face are the issues of mental and physical health, games/social media addiction, access to age-restricted content, immoral activities, etc. These problems could be controlled by the proper monitoring by the parents.
