City of Bethlehem

Bethlehem is a Palestinian city whose name means Aramaic in Bethlehem. In 2000 BCE, the Canaanites were the first inhabitants of the city. Bethlehem has gained international fame because of the birth of Christ - peace be upon him - within the Church of the Nativity, which is the most famous historical landmarks. The city lies on a mountainous area high on the southern side of the Jerusalem mountains, and shares an eastern border with Beit Sahour, Beit Jala, and shares a northern border with Sur Baher, bordered by the village of Artas from the south.

بيت لحم مدينة فِلَسطينيّة، ومعنى اسمها في اللغة الآراميّة بيت الخبز، وفي عام 2000ق.م تقريباً كان الكنعانيون أوّل سُكّان المدينة. حصلت بيت لحم على شهرة دوليّة؛ بسبب ولادة السيد المسيح -عليه السلام- فيها ضمن كنيسة المهد التي تُمثّل أشهر معالمها التاريخيّة، وتقع المدينة على منطقة جبليّة مرتفعة ضمن الجهة الجنوبيّة من جبال القدس، وتشترك بحدود شرقيّة مع بيت ساحور، أمّا من الجهة الغربيّة فتحدّها مدينة بيت جالا، وتشترك بحدود شماليّة مع صور باهر، وتحدّها قرية إرطاس من الجهة الجنوبيّة.
