Bitcoin (BTC) ATM Scam

Scammers called immigrants in Australia by phone and threatened that they would report them to the Australian authorities saying that they would get arrested for tax debts.
So as to avoid these actions, they were told that they have to pay their duties to a certain Bitcoin ATM in Braybrook, Melbourne.
WATCH OUT.
The police believe that many more people have been ripped off to date, so far only 4 people have reported the scam and the total stolen from them is $50,000.
Australian authorities do not collect tax debts through cryptocurrency or Bitcoin ATMs, Victoria police explained.
“Anyone getting a call along these lines should make enquiries with the relevant authority before paying any money or giving any banking or personal details over the phone,”
You do not have to fear anyone when reporting these types of scams, quote:
“It’s OK to hang up and phone us on 1800 008 540 to check if the call was legitimate or report a scam.”
