The Writers Block community is one of the most popular writing communities on the steem blockchain. They have a presence on the discord app where they share their knowledge on writing and editing for anyone who is willing to grow their literary skills.

This community boasts editors, literary critics and a robust membership that helps fledging writers on their path to literary greatness both here on the steemit platform, which is their primary focus as well as the literary community in general which at the end of the day is the audience of every and any writer.

Recently, the community blog posted an announcement that means a whole lot for literary enthusiasts as well as those hoping for a publishing deal sometime in the near future. The community posted a call for submission into a contest which they titled; FIRST CHAPTER CHALLENGE.

Now unlike previous contests where the prize was either steem or SBD, the community has decided to take it a step further. According to the post, those willing to be a part of the contest are to submit the first chapter of a publishable book that they are working on. The winner gets not just the normal crypto token as reward but also the possibility of getting their manuscript, edited and published by Steemhouse publishing house that the Writers' Block community is launching pretty soon.

This means several things for writers on the steem blockchain. It means that those who create content and feel that they have grown to the point where publishing a book is the next step, should not bother with getting a publishing deal outside but should rather relate with these steemians who have their best interest at heart.

This means that the traditional publishing houses would have to recognize the talents that simmer in the bowels of the steem blockchain and that would ***n more deals for content creators on the blockchain.
