What is it that people value?

in #steemit10 years ago

I’ve tried blogging all types of topics on steemit to get an understanding of what people value and respond to with an upvote. It seems to me that people will only upvote what is of value to them or has a positive impact on their lives.

I’ve tried blogging emotive issues which results in highly charged responses but no upvotes
I’ve wrote a personal story ……… got a tumbleweed response
I’ve wrote a bit of comedy ……… got tumbleweed
I’ve tried a limerick as a response …….tumbleweed

However

I did get positive feedback with upvotes when I posted a very handy tip I learnt from a venerable old lady about how to make orchids flower. Clearly this is the stuff people appreciate and value and are prepared to show their appreciation for by upvoting.

My conclusion is this
I think getting tumbleweed responses is a good thing. It's taught me to think more carefully about the type of content I post.
Perhaps tumbleweed as a market force will eventually reduce the nonsense to dust then we can all enjoy reading high quality, value adding, life improving "stuff"

Alternatively

Without tumbleweed we could look forward to a life of steemit full of the nonsense you can read daily on facebook and the like.

Good quality content has to be my watch-word going forward.

Thanks for reading my musings.
