Steem Power Interest

How does Steem Power Interest work?

From the answers I received last about STEEM POWER interest it looks like it is 90% for 1 year then 10% after that.. If you use the Steem Power Interest Calculator (https://steemit.com/steem/@deeprocks/steem-power-interest-calculator-updated) by @deeprocks  it seems like Steemit is closer to the simple interest model which is what you see here..

This is still A LOT of interest!

I am definitely happy to see this :D

That would take me from 620 to approx 2000 STEEM POWER in just a year!

Now obviously this calculator states that it is not 100% accurate, but everyone seems to say theirs are pretty accurate as well.

Try out the calculator for yourself by clicking here https://jscalc.io/calc/KcEkRo6qv2s8CM6S

And if anyone has a link to more details on how this works or can confirm the calculator is accurate then please let us know in the comments!

It seems right but you have to consider the price of each steem.

Right now, 1 steem = 2.22$

If next year the price of each steem is still 2.22$ you will have around 300% of net gain on your investment.
If steem price fall at 0.7$ ( /3 ), you'll break even.
Now if Steem keep growing and the price rises to 5$ ( x2 ), you'll have 600% on your investment.

As new steem are produce every day, the market cap (number of share x price of the share) is not a good mesure of the economic growth of steem. Only the share (steem) price is important.

I hope it makes it easier to understand ;D

Can you get interest if and held at bittrex? If not why not?

I don't understand your question ...

is the calculator accurate today?

this didnt work last time you posted it and it still doesnt. The calculation is incorrect.

ok. i tried to be nice and not flag it but if you want to turn it into a flagging issue ill do so.

Youre lying to people about interest rate, plain and simple.

flag taken down man but your lack in DEFINITE proof is causing MY stuff to not get any attention because your crying wolf over here when you cant even prove what your talking about

OK hold on ill find "proof" for you.

How does this prove this will be consistent @sigmajin..
I did my own comparison for multiple accounts over an hour and broke down all the numbers, but that doesn't prove anything

https://steemit.com/steempower/@stealthtrader/how-much-steem-power-do-we-gain-if-we-don-t-touch-our-account

OK taking this down for now i need to chekc something the numbers arent being consistent

hold on checking something

I assume they can change the interest rate any time they want and can make it super low if they need to. Powering down now would mean a person believes that Steem might be worth Zero in a year or 2 so it is better to get something now instead of nothing in the future. This is possible. My latest post is here: https://steemit.com/bitcoin/@bitcoinmeister/wild-bitcoin-flushing-day-bitfinex-hack-coinbase-slow-and-btc-fork-rumors

Nice yes that is great investment for sure! Nice return

Interesting. Thank you for this post!

I posted a few times on what I incorrectly thought of as the "Steem Interest Rate" when it's more accurately protection against share dilution. If interested, you can see those posts here, here, and here. Be sure to read the comments, because some of what I said in those posts wasn't exactly accurate. There has been a lot of debate about whether or not the "interest rate" is simple or compounding, but to me it makes more sense to think about the whole thing in terms of supply and demand. If the number of shares double, the price per share would be cut in half (all things being equal). It's ultimately the demand for STEEM and SBD that will determine what the actual "interest" would be on holding Steem Power. It's also further complicated because SBD have their own interest mechanism that is set by the witnesses and currently sites at 10%.

this isnt wrong becasue of that, hes just using the wrong rate. the method used to get the rate had the same flaw as steemstats... hes counting some random award or transfer.

Thanks @lukestokes all of those posts helped explain it a lot better especially the "steam" power scenerio :D

Thanks for this post! Very helpful :)

But I wonder, how (often) does the interest gets paided out?
