#1 Mintos p2p lending in-depth review
Today: Investing in p2p platforms.
As you know since my last blogpost part of my investment portfolio includes p2p lending investments on three different platforms.One i would like to present to you in a more in-depth review.About 2 and a half years ago the peer-to-peer lending marketplace was launched. Mintos has its headquarters in Riga Latvia were it was founded as well. Over time they added a variety of loans. You can invest in loans for businesses, car loans, mortgages, loans for crop so pretty much everything.The key facts about this investment platform:
- First there are no fees for investors (only on the secondary market you pay 1% seller fee)
- Interest rates range from 6% - 18+% (depending on risk affinity)
- Variety of loan types
- start with just 10 Euro possible
- if you buy on the secondary market you can invest as little as 0.01 cent
- investment possible with 7 different currencies
- Auto Invest: Function that invests automatically the way you set your parameters (at least 10 Euro)
- buyback guarantee for some loans ( after a loan payment is 60 days overdue the provider pays the loan plus the interest on it to you
Here a quick guide on how to start your first loan.Since the end of june last year 2016 so since 1 year almost i invest in mintos and other platforms. My initial investment was 100 Euros to see that the deposit actually go through. After one day that it took to transfer the money into my mintos account i slowly but surely invested more so that my account now weighs in at 614 Euros.
My plan actually is to let the money work for itself and to really experience the compound interest effect that even small investments have. If I were never again to deposit more money and the platform would still exist after 60 years I would have made 11,200 Euros (with an average and moderate interest rate of 5%).
My yielded ROI (return on investment) is 11,83% but I saw ROI`s of 15% and up as well. Either way these platforms aren´t suppose to give me the max. percentages. The only thing I want to reach growth wise is anything more than the inflation rate would takes me year after year.
Most people do follow a more focused strategy when it comes to their mintos portfolio investments but speaking for myself and from my own experiences I personally just invest in loans with a buyback guarantee. So far it never got that far so that unfortunately I´m not able to say whether you really get back your investment if the loan taker isn´t paying his rates.
Currently I do have some loans running up to 60 days late but we will see. Maybe they´ll be paid back or will be compensated for from the bank.
MINTOS: THE SECONDARY MARKET
If you want to have total control over your investments or just see a good opportunity you can also invest yourself by adjusting the wanted parameters like loan duration, amount, LTV (loan to value) and so on yourself.
Some people even make some good extra earnings by buying in on the primary market to resell the loans on the secondary market for a little extra money (naturally higher than the 1% seller fee).
I also invest regularly in the secondary market because I that way I ensure an even lesser risk exposure by deviding my investments into stakes of 5 Euros or less so I`m invested in more loans than I could be by just investing in the primary market (which allows investments not smaller than 10 Euros each loan).
The Overall Market
After 1 year of investing in mintos I noticed a high liquidity on the loans so to speak. Besides an ever growing demand your money usually gets reinvested right away after you received your interest rate. That way the money is never not invested and can always secure you a passive income.
