Ignorance Is Bliss?
I hate ignorant and judgmental comments. I have always hated comments that basically say a person has to earn respect in order to get respect. That's total B.S. in my opinion. We should all show each other respect up front. I don't care about the color of your skin (except I might get jealous if you don't burn as easily as I do!), I don't care about your sexual orientation, I don't care what kind of clothes you wear as long as your naughty bits are covered, I don't care if you're over weight, underweight, pretty or plain, rich or poor.... I just don't care. I will treat you with respect. Once you disrespect me, I will lose respect for you. That's just how it is. That being said, I HATE when people make ignorant comments. ESPECIALLY when they are in a position of authority. I have made mention before that I am a Type 1 Diabetic. I won't go in to too many details here as I have told the beginnings of my story previously, but I will state that I did nothing wrong that caused my diabetes. Everyone that has diabetes, whether it is Type 1 or Type 2, has a predisposition to developing Diabetes. I don't care if the person that has diabetes is overweight or not. They were born with the predisposition. It's genetic. So saying that a person who is diabetic should not have affordable healthcare because they brought it on themselves is rude and disrespectful. I don't understand people not having compassion for others. Just because you don't suffer with something yourself doesn't mean that you can't try to show some empathy. If anyone is interested, below is a short article about the comment that was made that I and the whole diabetic community find rude and offensive.

you know, i used to agree with you....
at the end of the day, i dont think it comes down to skin color or sexual preference or religious choices or empathy. it comes down to this, most people are decent human beings. they absolutely deserve respect... but they still have to earn it by proving even in a single small instance that they are deserving of said respect.
on the flip side, some people are complete assholes and dont deserve respect at all and it has nothing to do with bias or small mindedness or anything. they are just shitty and dont deserve equal treatment to those who arent. thats just my opinion though i like your post. theres no point in anyone making fun of the diabetic community its something we dont understand if we dont have idk
Some people ARE assholes from the start. I will typically try to kill them with kindness, so to speak. Sometimes you dont know why someone is an asshole. But if that doesnt work, I keep my contact with them minimal.
